Lille have been one of the better teams in France for a while now and they have proven that yet again this season. They enter the final round in third place in the standings and if they can beat Auxerre, they will secure a spot in the Champions League for next season.

They also head into this game on a 13-game unbeaten streak, the longest in the league for this entire season. Not even the most dominant force in French football, PSG, who have once again been crowned champions, were able to go undefeated for such a long time.

Lille could've been even better overall if they had been more convincing at home this season. They have dropped too many points, which is also evident lately since they drew in three of their last four home matches.

Ousmane Toure, Hamza Igamane, and Marc Aurele Caillard are out with injuries for Lille, while Marius Broholm is questionable.

Meanwhile, Auxerre were destined to play in the relegation playoffs this season, but two wins in the last two rounds have put them outside of the relegation zone on goal difference, ahead of Nice.

Unfortunately for Auxerre, Nice will host the worst team in the league this season, Metz, in the last round, while Auxerre travel to Lille, where it's hard to get points. So, despite their recent surge of good form, Auxerre will need a bit of luck in the last round to avoid relegation playoffs after all.

When it comes to team news, Nathan Buayi-Kiala, Oussama El Azzouzi, Romain Faivre, Bryan Okoh, and Fredrik Oppegard are all out with injuries, while Clement Akpa is doubtful.

Whispers predicts: Lille 3-1 Auxerre

Although Auxerre are desperate for points from this match to avoid dropping into the relegation playoffs, Lille shouldn't have much of a problem in securing three points to ensure they play in the Champions League next season. With that in mind, we suggest backing Lille to win and lead at half-time at 21/20 odds.

That being said, we wouldn't be surprised if Auxerre score in this game. As we said, they will have a huge motive to try and get a positive result and they have scored nine goals in thier last four league matches. So, back both teams to score at 21/20 odds as well.

Lastly, if Auxerre get a goal or more, the most likely scorer will be Lassine Sinayoko, the team's top scorer in the league this season with 10 goals. Sinayoko to score at any time is priced at quite enticing 4/1 odds, especially when we consider that he already scored a brace in the first match against Lille this season.
