Clermont – Lens preview: Latest form, news, and potential lineups

Read all of the latest injury updates and team news for this duel, including our predicted Clermont vs Lens lineups.

Clermont

Clermont achieved their first home win of the season in the last round when being able to edge fellow-strugglers Lorient 1-0. The game was cagey and the Lancers were lucky not to concede at 0-0. Eventually, they stole the win with a late penalty.

Clermont remain in the bottom 2 but they are starting to turn things around and collected 7 of their 9 points just in the last 4 rounds.

The Lancers don’t have any injury problems it seems so they will enter this match at full strength.

Predicted Lineup:

Diaw (GK), Seidu, Caufriez, Pelmard, Konate, Gonalons, Gastien, Borges, Nicholson, Magnin & Rashani

Lens

Lens moved into the top 6 after edging Marseille 1-0 at home in the last round. It was far from easy with the winner scored only in the last minute of the match by defender Gradit. Lens defended very well though.

Lens kept 5 clean sheets in the last 6 rounds and this is the main reason why they went on a 7-game unbeaten run in the league (W4 D3).

Lens are missing 3 players due to injuries (Cabot, Cortes and Farinez). None of them plays much even when fit though so the squad is pretty much at full strength even without them.

Predicted Lineup:

Samba (GK), Gradit, Danso, Medina, Frankowski, Mendy, Samed, Machado, Sotoca, Thomasson & Wahi

Player to Watch: Elye Wahi

Lens signed striker Elye Wahi in late August with the hope he will become their main goal provider this season. So far, Wahi has been struggling and he scored just 1 goal in 9 league appearances for Lens.

However, Wahi’s luck hasn’t been helping and he also hit the woodwork 4 times in those 9 matches. Wahi is a proven scorer at Ligue 1 level, he netted 19 goals in 28 matches for Montpellier last season, so we expect him to soon start scoring more regularly for Lens too.
