Leeds preview: Have plenty of goals in them

Leeds played out a 3-3 draw on the opening weekend of the new Championship season at home to Portsmouth.

Daniel Farke's side rescued a point in the fifth minute of time added on in what was a truly breathtaking game of football at Elland Road.

The German manager's side have scored 12 goals in their last five matches combined but clearly still have some work to do with their defence.

Predicted lineup: Meslier (GK), Firpo, Rodon, Ampadu, Struijk, Bogle, James, Gruev, Rutter, Gnonto & Joseph

Middlesbrough preview: Will have their defence tested

Boro claimed a 1-0 win at home against Swansea on Saturday to get their campaign off to a great start.

However, with just eight goals in their last five matches, five of which came against Doncaster, Middlesbrough are going to be relying on their strong defensive record this season, especially on the road.

Predicted lineup: Dieng (GK), Ayling, Clarke, Engel, van den Berg, McGree, Azaz, Morris, Hackney, Jones & Latte Lath

Player to watch – Wilfried Gnonto

Wilfried Gnonto continues to develop well at Leeds United having made the move to the English club from Zurich in 2022.

The Italian international scored nine goals in 44 games across all competitions last season, his best campaign in a Leeds shirt in terms of both goals scored and games played.

The young Italian continues to be linked with a move away from Elland Road but still remains at the club

Gnonto, who continues to be linked with a move back to the Premier League with Everton, scored in the 3-3 draw with Portsmouth before being substituted in the second half.

We're backing Leeds' little Italian to cause the Middlesbrough defence plenty of headaches in this League Cup tie, helping to guide his side to victory.
