Leeds United and Parma target Lille goalkeeper after impressive U-20 World Cup displays.

Announced in the sights of Leeds United and Parma, young goalkeeper Lisandru Olmeta, on loan from LOSC to Bastia, is already arousing interest after his fine U-20 World Cup with Les Bleuets. According to L'Equipe, the young goalkeeper belonging to LOSC would be in Leeds United's sights.

Lisandru Olmeta: U-20 World Cup as trigger?

Despite non-existent playing time in Ligue 2 with the Corsican club, bottom of the league, the goalkeeper distinguished himself wearing Les Bleuets' shirt during the U-20 World Cup in Chile, where he produced several solid performances.

Son of former emblematic goalkeeper Pascal Olmeta, Lisandru confirmed his potential on the international scene, to the point of seducing several foreign clubs. Besides Leeds, Italian club Parma have also reportedly expressed their interest.

Following in his father's footsteps

The 19-year-old's performances in Chile particularly caught the eye during France's run to the semi-finals, where he made crucial saves against Argentina in the group stage. His composure under pressure and shot-stopping ability have been highlighted as key attributes that could suit the demands of the Championship or Serie A.

Leeds United, currently pushing for Premier League promotion, are reportedly seeking to strengthen their goalkeeping options for the long term. The Yorkshire club's recruitment team have been monitoring Olmeta's progress closely and see him as a prospect who could develop into a first-choice option.

It now remains to be seen whether Lille will agree to part with one of their most promising prospects. Under contract with LOSC until 2027, Olmeta's situation at Bastia – where he has yet to feature this season – may prompt Lille to consider loan or permanent moves that would guarantee the young goalkeeper regular first-team football to continue his development.
