The January window has been overshadowed by a series of high-profile managerial sackings, though that does not mean the world of transfers has stopped. Here, we take a closer look at some of the latest transfer news today.

One of the biggest stories of the day comes from Old Trafford, with the future of Marcus Rashford now up in the air following the departure of Ruben Amorim.

Elsewhere, two Serie A giants are thinking about making a move for a Liverpool forward.

Just as Marcus Rashford was being linked with a permanent move to Barcelona, the sacking of Ruben Amorim at Manchester United has made the winger's potential return to Old Trafford possible.

The England international is currently on loan in Catalonia, enjoying a strong season with Barcelona which has seen him bag seven goals and produce 11 assists in 25 matches.

The La Liga giants have a £26m option to buy the forward at the end of the season, though with the club in financial dire straits, there are doubts about the feasibility of a permanent deal.

However, now that Amorim is out of the picture – a manager that Rashford did not have good relationship with – returning to Old Trafford is once again a realistic option for the 28-year-old.

Newcastle United’s plan of bolstering their attack with the signing of Jorgen Strand Larsen this January is expected to get more difficult as Tottenham Hotspur look to get in on the action, according to ChronicleLive.

Spurs have received some bad news with regards to Mohammed Kudus, who is set for a spell on the sidelines with an injury.

That latest injury update has forced Thomas Frank and his men to jump back into the transfer market, and the London outfit are pondering a January move for Larsen.

The Wolverhampton striker has an estimated value of around £34m, though the actual price could be a tad lower as the club look to cash-in on their star forward amid what seems to be an inevitable relegation to the Championship.

Federico Chiesa has several options on the table as the Liverpool forward ponders over his next career move, with Napoli and Juventus both keeping close tabs on the player.

According to Sky Sports News, Napoli are yet to make a formal approach for the Italian forward, with the same report suggesting that Arne Slot’s side will not allow the player to leave in January.

Chiesa’s former club Juventus are also interested in bringing their man back to Turin, though latest information from Italian news outlet Gazzetta dello Sport suggests that any potential deal depends on whether Mohamed Salah remains at Anfield.

The 28-year-old – who has a contract with Liverpool until 2028 – joined the Premier League club in the summer of 2024 for just £12m, while his current estimated value on Transfermarkt is a cool £15m.
