Arsenal have been dealt a big blow in their pursuit of Ligue 1 prodigy Elyes Saidi, with Auxerre turning down an initial approach from the Premier League outfit, according to a report by Africa Foot.

The French club consider the 16-year-old midfielder to be one of their most promising young talents, capable of slotting into the first team in the not-so-distant future.

Arsenal were hoping to strike a deal for the teenager, with a plan to integrate him into their youth system and take ownership of his development. Despite their best efforts, it appears the deal is dead.

The amount of money offered by Arsenal has not been disclosed in media reports, though it was clearly under Auxerre’s initial estimation.

According to Italian news outlet Il Messaggero, AS Roma have outlined Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee as their top transfer target ahead of the January transfer window.

The Dutch forward has struggled to make a name for himself at Old Trafford and endured a particularly poor performance against Everton on Monday night.

Reports suggest that Roma’s offer for Zirkzee has already landed on United’s desk, with the Serie A giants looking to strike an initial loan deal with an option to buy – something that could turn into an obligation should they qualify for the Champions League.

Zirkzee – who has an estimated value of £24m according to Transfermarkt – is reportedly open to the move, with the player looking for a fresh challenge in a new environment as he hopes to hit the restart button on his career.

Manchester City are considering entering the race for Bournemouth striker Antoine Semenyo, according to a report by talkSPORT.

Premier League champions Liverpool have been the frontrunners to sign the Ghanian, though they could now face competition from Pep Guardiola, who wants to beef up his attacking options.

The player recently put pen to paper on a brand new deal with the Cherries, keeping him at the club for another five years. What’s more, reports indicate that the new deal includes a £60m release clause, which will become active during the January transfer window.

With City entering the frame, Bournemouth will be hoping for a bidding war to ensue between the interested clubs, as the Cherries look to cash in on arguably their brightest talent.
