As the countdown to the new 2026/27 campaign continues, several of the Premier League's top clubs are stepping up their squad planning, and the transfer rumour mill never rests.

So with that in mind, Football Whispers takes a look at the biggest headlines of the day.

Liverpool are advancing in their efforts to strengthen Andoni Iraola’s squad as pre‑season gets underway, and they now appear to be closing in on a long‑term Mohamed Salah replacement.

According to reports, the Reds are ‘confident' of beating champions Arsenal and heavyweights Bayern Munich to the signing of Bradley Barcola.

The 23‑year‑old, valued at around £100 million, has been a long‑standing target at Anfield and further boosted his profile with an impressive run to the World Cup semi‑finals.

Barcola’s role at PSG is expected to diminish with the arrivals of Yan Diomande and Maghnes Akliouche, prompting the club to consider a sale.

As ever, Chelsea continue to push big-money moves in the transfer market, and after securing Morgan Rogers, they now have their sights set on Alex Scott.

The Blues recently saw a £64 million bid rejected by AFC Bournemouth for the England U21 midfielder, but reports now suggest the player is keen on a switch to Stamford Bridge.

Scott has no intention of signing a new deal on the south coast, having already turned down fresh terms, though the Cherries remain adamant the 22‑year‑old is not for sale.

Chelsea are not alone in the race, with Arsenal and Manchester United also interested, but his desire to join them gives the Blues a clear advantage at this stage.

Man Utd consider Eduardo Camavinga swoop

That isn't the only midfielder on the radar of Man Utd, despite Michael Carrick’s side already strengthening the engine room with two additions.

With Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos through the door, the Red Devils have now been linked with a move for Eduardo Camavinga.

The Real Madrid star missed out on France’s World Cup squad and is now thought to be no longer ‘untouchable’ at the Bernabeu.

While United’s interest is still at an early stage, it remains unclear how much the 23‑year‑old would cost, though previous reports have suggested a fee in the region of £68 million.
