Juventus are accelerating their pursuit of Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva, though latest reports from Corriere dello Sport point to a big stumbling block regarding finances.

The Serie A giants are battling with Atletico Madrid and Barcelona for Silva’s signature, and manager Luciano Spalletti has reportedly given his stamp of approval.

However, there appears to be a £2m gap between financial expectations, which could ultimately scupper the deal should the negotiations fail to reap a consensus.

Silva is leaving Man City after nine years at the club, and he has some level of leverage in the negotiations given the level of interest from other clubs.

Newly-promoted Coventry City are already putting their Premier League plans into place, and they are currently weighing up a potential deal for 35-year-old midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum.

According to Football Insider, Frank Lampard’s men are interested in the former Newcastle United and Liverpool star, especially with his contract at Al-Ettifaq set to run out this summer.

Wijnaldum would offer proven Premier League experience for a club that has been out of the top tier since the 2000-01 campaign, though Coventry would face competition from Leeds United, who are also interested.

Despite his age, the report claims that the Dutchman is “still very fit” – a claim that is backed up by his impressive numbers in the Saudi Pro League this season, including 17 goals and six assists.
