France have one final game of the March internationals after a defeat in Lyon to Germany and the 2022 World Cup finalists will meet with Chile in Marseille where Kylian Mbappe aims to edge closer to Olivier Giroud's all-time France goalscoring record with a current tally of 46 in 76 caps.
Mbappe to score first
In reality, with those 76 caps already and a further 46 goals on the board, not only will Mbappe overtake Giroud as the all-time top scorer for his country, the current France captain should go on to even surpass Hugo Lloris as the all-time leader in appearances with 69 more caps needed at just the age of 25.
The goals have once again been pouring in for Mbappe for his country, and allow he fired a blank in the 2-0 defeat at home to Germany, he is coming off the back of his best-ever goals to game ratio with his country after scoring 10 in nine caps in 2023. This saw Mbappe net a hat-trick against Gibraltar, a brace against the Netherlands and a goal each against Scotland, Greece and another one against Gibraltar.
The year before that also saw Mbappe score 12 times and make it to 12 goals in 14 appearances at the World Cup, and in truth, this is likely another record he breaks in due course, as he probably still has at least two more World Cups to get under his belt. From the nine goals he got last year for France, however, only two of them were the first goal of a game.
To score a header or penalty
Most goals for Mbappe tend to come with his right foot. However, he has still managed to get one headed goal this season for Paris Saint-Germain, although it is important to note that the Frenchman has netted nine penalties so far too after a recent goal for PSG came from the spot in a win at Nantes.
Should France get a penalty, Mbappe will be on duty once again. He famously scored two penalties for France at the World Cup final where he became just the second man in history to get a hat-trick on the biggest stage of them all.
To score 2+ goals
With 24 from 24 league games and a record of 10 from his last 10 for his country, Mbappe is statistically averaging at least a goal per in Ligue 1 and for the two-time world champions within the past year. During his excellent goalscoring run this season, PSG's all-time top scorer has grabbed at least two goals in a game on a few occasions already, as he scored twice against Lens on gameweek three in Ligue 1, before getting another two against Lyon and a further two against Brest before getting a double against Metz and US Orleans in the past two months.
Mbappe also has a hat-trick against US Ravel in the French Cup 9-0 battering over them away from home, as he also scored a treble of goals in a 3-0 away win over Stade Reims.
As mentioned, his last goal for France came as part of a hat-trick, and he has managed to get a brace six times since doing so against Denmark in the group stages of the 2022 World Cup, meaning he has six doubles in his past 15 games for France.
