Whisper+ analysis

Authenticity (4.5/5): Authenticity of the source rarely questionable

Barcelona are looking to make the sale of Christensen in the summer of 2025 as the Catalan side are already overflowing with options at centre-back with the likes of Ronald Araujo, Pau Cubarsi, Inigo Martinez and Eric Garcia.

Gianluca di Marzio has reported that Juventus are interested in signing the Danish centre-back as Bianconeri boss Motta is unhappy with his current options in defence.

Di Marzio is one of the most reputable sources  for transfer news related to Italian football and there are no signs to doubt the Christensen report.

Value (5/5): Christensen could be available for less than £25m

No exact transfer fee has been mentioned in the report; however, the transfer market currently rates the Danish defender at £25 million. It is likely that Barcelona would be open to selling Christensen for a rate lower than that price point with his contract set to run out in 2026.

For such a low fee, it would be a no-brainer for Juventus to try and sign a defender who is still only 28 years old.

Suitability (4/5): Juventus lack versatile defenders

Juventus currently have a very deep defensive line-up, however, the club lack a versatile defender who can carry the ball out of defence. Motta has constantly needed a profile similar to that of Christensen’s and as such the Danish centre-back could be the layer to help the Bianconeri improve.

Upgrade? (4/5): Bremer the only defender close to Christensen

Motta’s side have not had the best transfer windows and they lack the kind of level that is needed from a top side to contest for the Serie A title.

Christensen would be a major upgrade on Juventus' current set of centre-backs and he would become their direct number one in competition with Bremer, who showed a lot of promise before his season-ending injury.

Logic (4.5/5): A good move for Christensen

Christensen has been one of the most consistent defenders over the last decade having played a major role for both Chelsea and Barcelona. However, the Dane has never been a prominent figure as he has always been overshadowed by his partners at centre back.

A move to Juventus would see him become the Bianconeri’s number one and would also help him gain the kind of notoriety that a centre-back of his calibre deserves.

Whisper+ final verdict – 22/25

Christensen was a major part of Xavi Hernandez’s record-breaking defence in 2020/21 at Barcelona, however, he has lost prominence since with the rise of Cubarsi and Martinez under Hansi Flick. As such, it would be the right time to move away from the club for the Dane.

For Juventus, it would be a no-brainer to try to sign Christensen, especially given the shockingly low transfer fee.
