Ipswich Town vs Liverpool: Tempting Alexander Isak odds you should back for Premier League clash

Liverpool will be looking to pick up their first victory of the 2026-27 campaign under Andoni Iraola when they travel to Portman Road to face Ipswich Town on Friday.

The Reds have drawn both of their opening two matches, sharing the points with Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest in two entertaining 2-2 encounters.

Ipswich, meanwhile, began the season with a 2-1 victory over Sunderland but were brought back down to earth in their last game, suffering a heavy 5-2 defeat away to Manchester United.

Liverpool have also enjoyed recent success against the Tractor Boys, winning 2-0 at Portman Road in their last meeting there, while they also recorded a 4-1 victory in the corresponding fixture at Anfield during the 2024-25 campaign.

Liverpool completed the British-record £125m signing of Alexander Isak from Newcastle United in the summer of 2025, and the Swedish striker now looks ready to make his mark after overcoming the fitness problems that disrupted his first season at Anfield.

Isak struggled with injuries throughout the previous campaign, but a full pre-season has left him fit and raring to go, while his goal against Nottingham Forest last time out should provide another confidence boost.

The 26-year-old is priced at 23/20 (2.15) to score against Ipswich, while 19/4 (5.75) is available for him to open the scoring.

Isak also has happy memories of playing at Portman Road, having scored a hat-trick there for Newcastle, making 6/1 (7.00) for him to score two or more goals an appealing option.

Ipswich Town vs Liverpool: The Reds badly need win

Liverpool have already dropped points in their opening two matches, and with Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea winning both of their games, Andoni Iraola's side cannot afford another setback so early in the campaign.

The Reds have enjoyed the better of their recent meetings with Ipswich and will travel to Portman Road confident of getting their season up and running, with 1/2 (1.50) available for an away victory.

There could also be a competitive debut for Bradley Barcola, with Liverpool's big-money summer signing expected to feature at some stage.

The French attacker is priced at 13/8 (2.63) to score on his Liverpool debut, giving him an opportunity to make an immediate impact.
