France advanced to the World Cup 2026 knockouts in style, winning all three group games in what some labelled the “Group of Death” with free-scoring Norway and AFCON runners-up Senegal alongside a dangerous Iraq side.
They are rewarded with a round of 32 tie against Sweden, which they will play at the MetLife Stadium on Tuesday night.
Kylian Mbappe was especially instrumental for Les Bleus, scoring four goals and producing a further two assists, as he became France's all-time top scorer and took his total World Cup goals tally to 16.
While it would not be a surprise to see Mbappe find the net again, not as many may back him to record another assist, and this article aims to inform why to back Mbappe to make an assist at 11/4 (3.75).

Mbappe was as influential against Norway as he was in France's previous two group games against Senegal and Iraq.
Indeed, while he did not get on the scoresheet himself, his link-up play with Ousmane Dembele was especially impressive, as he provided two assists for the reigning Ballon d'Or winner.
Both players have now combined for five goals at World Cups, which is the joint-most on record by a duo since 1966.
Another would see them lead this particular stat outright, and with the quality both possess, it would not be surprising to see them combine again versus Sweden.
At the World Cup so far, only Michael Olise (3.5) has averaged more key passes per game than Mbappe (two) in the France squad, and while his tally of 42 goals in all competitions for Real Madrid in the 2025/26 season is impressive, he also produced seven assists.
Mbappe also boasts 42 assists for France in 101 caps alongside his 60 goals across all competitions, showing that he also looks to provide for his teammates regularly alongside netting decisive goals.
Kylian Mbappe to assist vs Sweden?

Based on Mbappe's performance against Norway and his impressive assists record for club and country, we are happy to back him to assist against Sweden.
What is surprising is that three players have shorter odds than him to make an assist: Olise, Dembele and Rayan Cherki.
Only Olise can boast more assists (three) for France in the World Cup so far, and Dembele is tied with Mbappe on four goals and chasing the Golden Boot.
Argentina legend Lionel Messi leads the way with six, so the Paris Saint-Germain superstar may look for goal more often, especially after scoring a first-half hat-trick in France's 4-1 win over Norway last time out.
Cherki has also had to settle for three substitute appearances so far, so is unlikely to start and have as much time to make a significant impact as Mbappe.
Nonetheless, Mbappe's 11/4 (3.75) odds to supply an assist are somewhat generous in our eyes.
