Many people around the continent have been long awaiting Euro 2020, which is still the competition's official name despite being played in the following year. The tournament was rescheduled for 2021, and we expect a lot of exciting things. It was decided that the official name of the competition will be Euro 2020, not Euro 2021. The tournament has been taking place in twelve host cities around Europe, unlike previous editions, which have always taken place in one or two countries. Here is everything you need to know about Euro 2021 betting.

Italy vs England – European Championship Final

Prediction 1

Harry Kane has been coming good in the latter part of the tournament. After failing to score in the opening two games, the Tottenham forward has four goals in his last three matches – including the opener against Ukraine. Kane is looking for his first goal against Italy, but he has always been a form player who would be difficult to stop when he goes on a run.

You can back Harry Kane to score anytime @ 7/4 with NetBet >>

Prediction 2

Italy have scored in 15 consecutive matches and the last time the team failed to score was against Poland back in 2020. England had a slow start to the tournament with just one goal from the opening two games, but they have since come good with over 1.5 goals in the last three games. Since players like Harry Kane are on form, England are in a good state to breach Italy’s defence for a fourth consecutive game.

You can back both teams to score @ 16/9 with SBK >>

Prediction 3

Italy has the best team in the tournament, but England have momentum coming into this game. After an excellent start to the campaign, Italy required extra time to get past Austria and Spain. Meanwhile, England appear to have an extra gear up their sleeves and the team has been involved in extra time action only once in the tournament.

The Euro 2021 Semi-Finals

Here is how the semi-finals played out for what has been a truly entertaining European Championship.

Italy 1-1 Spain (Italy win on penalties)

Italy beat Spain on penalties after a 1-1 draw at Wembley. Alvaro Morata's penalty was saved in the shootout, before Champions League winner Jorginho coolly slotted home the winning spot kick.

England 2-1 Denmark (after extra time)

England had to come from behind and needed extra time to see off a spirited Denmark side on Wednesday night. Harry Kane's decisive goal was a rebound after his extra time penalty was saved by Kasper Schmeichel.

The Euro 2021 Quarter-Finals

There were no real surprises in the quarter-finals, though, another of the favourites for the competition did fall by the wayside.

Switzerland 1-1 Spain

Switzerland gave Spain a run for their money just as we expected but eventually lost to Luis Enrique's side on penalties.

Belgium 1-2 Italy

This was one of the most competitive matches of the competition and Italy did just enough to deserve their victory.

Czech Republic 1-2 Denmark

Denmark outplayed Czech Republic and could have won by a greater margin in the end.

Ukraine 0-4 England

From start to finish, England dominated their quarter-final tie against Ukraine and the 4-0 scoreline did not flatter them in the slightest.

The Euro 2021 Last 16

The last 16 produced a few big surprises, plenty of goals, and has set up some exciting quarter-final ties.

Wales 0-4 Denmark

As the scoreline suggests, Wales were absolutely dominated from start to finish in this game. The result itself will have given Denmark genuine belief that they can go all the way just as their predecessors did back in 1992.

Italy 0-0 Austria (Italy won 2-1 aet)

Italy put in their worst performance of the tournament and Austria almost made them suffer for it. However, two substitutes scored the all-important goals in extra time to put Italy through to the quarter-finals.

Netherlands 0-2 Czech Republic

The first big shock of Euro 2020 arrived at the expense of the Netherlands. The Dutch can have no complaints with this result as the Czech's thoroughly deserved to win the game and progress through to the next round.

Belgium 1-0 Portugal

The Lukaku vs Ronaldo tie turned out to be a tight and tense affair with just the one-goal being produced. This game could have gone either way based on the chances created but it was settled by a fantastic strike Thorgan Hazard.

Croatia 3-3 Spain (Spain won 5-3 aet)

These two sides put on a fantastic display and produced the highest-scoring game of the tournament so far. Spain looked like they had done enough to wn the game but Croatia fought back in the death to take the match into extra time. From this point on, Spain never really looked like losing the game and deserved to progress into the quarter-finals.

France 3-3 Switzerland (Switzerland won on pens)

By far the biggest shock of the tournament was Switzerland knocking out the World Champions and favourites to win Euro 2020, France. France didn't play well in this game, especially Mbappe. However, when Pogba put the French 3-1 up it looked like the favourites had done enough to win the game, but Switzerland somehow scored two late goals, survived through extra time and held their nerve during the penalty shootout to secure a famous win.

England 2-0 Germany

This battle of the two old rivals was very evenly matched throughout but the big difference was that England took their two big chances and the Germans missed theirs. After this result, England will be starting to believe that they can finally end their trophy drought.

Sweden 1-1 Ukraine (Ukraine won 2-1 aet)

Sweden were tipped to beat Ukraine but this game was very closely fought and Shevchenko's men deserved their extra-time victory. The game changed when Danielsson was sent off for a dangerous tackle leaving the Scandinavians down to 10-men and inviting, even more, Ukraine pressure.

The Euro 2021 Group Stage

The group stage of the European Championship didn't produce any big shocks as all of our favourites and the dark horses all progressed into the last 16.

Group A

Italy proved just why more people should have backed them as one of the favourites to win Euro 2020 as they cruised through Group A, winning all three matches, scoring 7-goals, and failing to concede a single goal. Wales pinched second-place ahead of Switzerland via goal difference, while Turkey finished rock-bottom without picking up a single point from any of their three fixtures.

Group B

Belgium lived up to the hype by securing wins in each of their three group games, scoring 7-goals, and only conceding one on their way to clinching the top spot. Denmark overcame adversity to finish in the runners-up spot courtesy of goal difference, just pipping Finland and Russia thanks to a big win in their final match.

Group C

The Netherlands had a 100% record in Group C, despite a shaky start against Ukraine. Austria finished second on 6pts and Ukraine claimed third place. North Macedonia deserve a special mention despite finishing bottom of the group with 0pts, as they played some lovely football at times and always played to win, giving a great account of themselves in all three matches.

Group D

England won the group despite not playing the most thrilling of football, scoring a mere 2-goals but keeping three clean sheets. Croatia had to wait until the final round of fixtures before securing their place in the knockout stage, thanks to a win over Scotland, while Czech Republic finished third despite starting the group so positively. Scotland only managed 1pts from their three games but did at least score a goal in their last game against Croatia, how different things could have been if they had turned that draw against England into a win.

Group F

There was a slight surprise in Group F, as Sweden finished above Spain. The Spanish struggled for goals until their final game against Slovakia when they scored a hatful. Slovakia slipped into third with that defeat, while Poland flattered to deceive in the end with just 1pt from a possible nine.

Group G

The so-called ‘Group of Death' lived up to the billing but in the end, the World Cup winners France claimed the top spot as the majority predicted them to. Germany finished as the runners-up ahead of Portugal due to the fact that they beat the Portuguese in the second round of fixtures, while Hungary fought bravely, only losing one game, but still finished in last position.

Czech Republic, Switzerland, Ukraine, and Portugal also progress through to the last 16 as the four best third-place finishers.

Apart from the World Cup, football tournaments just do not get bigger than the Euro Championships. This is the tournament where the very best international teams in Europe come together to fight it out and see who will be crowned Kings of Europe. The tournament is regularly home to teams such as England, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, and many other powerhouses from around the continent. This event is typically held once every 4 years, but due to obvious economic events, the event has now been pushed back to take place in 2021.

There will be 24 teams that clash in this tournament, and just like the other prestigious events that are held around the world, the Euro Championships begin as a round-robin competition. From each of the groups that have now been drawn, only two can progress through to the knockout stage. This is why every single game is critically important in the tournament, and it's also why the drama, as well as the excitement, can reach extremely high levels.

With the tournament scheduled to start soon, we figured it was about time that a post was put together that highlights plenty of Euro 2021 betting tips. You can see many of our hand-picked tips in the table above, but we have also gone into much more detail throughout the rest of the post.

Which Teams are the Euro 2021 Favorites, and Why?

Portugal, Germany, and France are all together in the same group, which isn't optimistic. Maybe France receives higher odds on some bookie pages because they qualified with ease, but we can only guess how things will happen.

France

Out of all of the teams we have covered through these euro 2021 tips, France is undoubtedly the favourite. After all, when you consider the fact that France managed to win the previous World Cup, it is obvious that they are a team with talented players. To go hand in hand with the fact that the team is loaded with talented football players, they are also a team full of courage, and they are clearly able to perform on the big stage.

Belgium

The Red Devils are the current No.1 team in the world, according to the FIFA rankings, and with the talent Roberto Martinez has in his squad, this could finally be the year Belgium end their trophy drought. In goal, Belgium have the Real Madrid shot-stopper Courtois, in midfield the key man is De Bruyne, while up-front Lukaku will be tasked with scoring the goals. There is some concern over Belgium's aging defence, which includes just two players under the age of 25.

England

The oddsmakers deiced that the most probable winner of the Euro 2021 is England from the group D. It's not surprising considering they reached the semi-finals stage during the 2018 World Cup. Another factor to consider is that if they play in Group D against a play-off winner, Czech Republik, and Croatia. They would most likely play more than half their group matches at Wembley Stadium, which gives them the home advantage over the other teams in the group.

Up until recent times, we would not have considered it possible for England to be competing for major titles. However, given that they managed to make the semi-final of the last World Cup, it is impossible to write England off these days. As many of you may know, England is a very young team, but with youth comes courage and fearlessness, which is certainly what England has displayed in their recent international games.

Germany

Germany may have lost some of their legends that helped them to win the World Cup in 2012, but they are still a formidable team. The international squad has a terrific manager, and they have become renowned for playing some truly magnificent football. Interestingly, Germany has been drawn in a group that consists of themselves, France, and Portugal, which means that one of these favourites will be going home early.

Underdogs to look out for

Although we have covered how many teams that look likely to make it to the latter stages of the competition, we would like to now take a moment to cover some of the underdogs. After all, if you are considering betting on the event, these are the teams where you might find some highly enticing odds for them to ultimately lift the trophy.

Netherlands

The Netherlands is also listed as favorites, but their offense isn't as potent. They were on the final of the Nations League under their new coach Ronald Koeman and had many potentials. They lack a bona fide striker, and that may not be enough at the Euro 2021.

Portugal

Many people think that Portugal is just a one-man team, with the outcome of their games being completely dependent on how Cristiano Ronaldo performs. Since Portugal managed to win the last Euro Championships, however, and the fact that they did this without their star man, this reputation was completely turned on its head. Ronaldo and indeed Portugal managed to prove that they could come together as a team and do great things, which was why they managed to win the last tournament.

Spain

Some would say that Spain has lost its way in international football in recent years. But nevertheless, Spain is still a team with some very talented individuals, and they are capable of playing rapid football that can regularly lead to goals. Players such as Sergio Ramos will no doubt bring plenty of experience to the team for the tournament, but there are also players such as Rodrigo and Rodri to look out for as well.

Italy

Italy is a country that has always had quality players. Their coach has significantly lowered the average age of the squad, but we can't say if that will be advantageous next summer. We think the Italy team will get high in the rankings, but we doubt that they would get to the top four.

Italy used to be powerhouses of international football, but this is not really the case these days. They have regularly underperformed at major competitions such as the Euros and the World Cup, however, Italy is still a nation where football is almost a religion. Much like the German squad mentioned earlier, Italy managed to lose a load of talented players many years ago, but now they have plenty of young guns coming through.

What are the Prevalent Markets Offered by Bookies

Outright Winner

The most popular market for Euro 2021 from now until it begins is the outright market. There you pick the winner of the championship. Note that you will have to place the bet before the event starts that's when you will get the best odds. As each contestant is disqualified, your odds will get lower.

Top 4 to Finish

Reaching the semi-finals of this prestigious tournament is an excellent achievement. You need to wager on if a team would reach that stage. The odds provided are similar to the outright winner odds, but since there are four places to fill, you have a bigger chance of guessing.

To Qualify Past Group Stage

The European Championship begins with a qualifying group stage. You have to wager if a team would qualify past the group stage or not. Popular teams and recent winners are favored in this category.

Top Goalscorer

The goalscorer markets are famous in all football competitions, and it's the case in the Euros 2021 too. This market is difficult to predict with so much time left before the event starts, but when the time is right, it gets much traffic.

European Championship 2021 Special Markets

If you want to do something different, you can try betting on some unique markets related to the event. Bookmakers release them sometimes to diversify the usual markets and spice-up the standard markets. There are many different possible markets, and the most popular ones are the following.

Player of the Tournament

A famous market is that many people are anticipating who will have the best performance in the tournament, and predicting who will be crowned the “Player of the Tournament” is a competition that only takes the best performances of the Euro 2021. The prize is considered more prestigious than the Golden Boot.

Most yellow/red cards

This market is for betting on the emotional players when it comes to attitude on the field. Getting cards during the game isn't good, especially if your team depends on you, but some footballers just can't help themselves. Here you have to predict which player will get the most yellow or red cards during the tournament.

Which Group Will Produce the Most Goals?

At first, the teams are put into groups that play against each other. This type of bet refers to which of the groups would score the most goals, and it's settled at the end of the group stage. Coral was one of the bookies that offered this market during the last European Championship, and we expect that many would follow next year as well.

What are the Most Popular Markets When Betting on Euro 2021 Matches?

Match Result

The most common market for wagering on, in any event, is the match result/moneyline market. If you place a bet on this type of market, you choose between three outcomes:

  • Home
  • Draw
  • Away

If one of the teams is unevenly matched against the other, the odds may not be favorable, but if you decide to include this bet in an Acca, then your potential profits can go up.

Total Goals

The total goals market is also referred to as the over/under market. There can be several markets in this category, such as Over/Under 2.5, which means that you wager on the fact that the total goals scored in this match by both teams would be over 2.5.

Correct Score

This is another famous market for football events where you predict the final score of the match. This outcome is tough to predict, and the odds related to it are always better because of that.

Other Popular Markets

Since there are hundreds of markets available for football matches, we can't list all of them, but we will mention some other markets you could bet on during the Euro 2021.

  • Double chance
  • Score anytime
  • Winning margin
  • Both teams to score
  • Half/Full time
  • Draw no bet
  • Handicap
