The 21-year-old has a release clause in his contract at Stamford Bridge, believed to be worth £40million. However, since he is yet to start a single Premier League game this term, it is tough to see Dortmund spend that much on an out of favour talent. A loan exit appears more likely this month.

Dortmund, who mostly play in the 4-2-3-1 formation under Nuri Sahin, are looking for a box-to-box midfielder, and it is claimed that Chukwuemeka fits such a profile. He has both the physicality and positional awareness to dominate opposition players in the middle of the park.
