Brest vs Lorient Odds, Tips, and Predictions

After several years outside the top flight of the Ligue 1, Auxerre is back in France's top league. The start of the season was positive with two wins in their first three matches, however, after three straight defeats, things have changed.  Lorient, on the other hand, has been nothing but terrific winning five out of seven games played.

Lorient to Win

Saying that Lorient had an impressive start to the season would be a huge understatement. A team that was in the Second Division not long ago right now is taking Ligue 1 like a storm. After nine matches, Lorient has won seven of them losing only once, and drawing against Toulouse. They are on a five-game winning streak scoring almost three goals per game. Lorient beat some of the best teams in France like Lille and Lyon and took advantage of their form by downing teams from the lower part of the rankings. Brest is one of those teams, Lorient fans are expecting another win, especially as Brest hasn't won a game in six straight matches.

Over 2.5 Goals

Besides having a great winning streak, Lorient is also one of the best offensive teams in the league at the moment. They went over a 2.5 goals mark in seven of their nine games. Brest has done it four times after the same number of matches. Looking at their h2h matchup, three out of the last six-game went in ‘over'. A lot is different this season as Lorient is scoring a high number of goals, and their forwards will be a menace to defend for Brest who only has a single win this whole season.

Lorient looking for a Champions League spot

Brest had a very well last season finishing at the 11th spot in Ligue 1, but things haven't gone according to their hopes and plan this season. They are in the relegation zone with only one win and a 9-19 goal difference. Fortunately for them, as of this moment, there are a lot of teams struggling to get wins, and in Ligue 1 it is especially hard to get a victory against teams that are on a similar budget, and with a limited squad, talent-wise.

Brest probable starting 11: Bizot, Duverne, Chardonnet, Herelle, Brassier, Belkebla, Lees-Melou, Honorat, Le Douaron, Pereira Lage, Slimani.

It's hard to discuss winning an actual title for Lorient which is something they have never done before, but fighting for a Champions League spot is something they can think about. Of course, that is providing how their form transforms into the latter part of the season. The period ahead, before the World Cup, will be hard enough with no breaks, just a tough schedule to look forward to.

Lorient probable starting 11: Mvogo, Le Goff, Talbi, Laporte, Kalulu, Abergel, Le Fee, Kone, Ponceau, Diarra, Moffi.

Team News:

Brest: Steve Mounie, Hugo Magnetti, and Noah Fadiga are injured.

Lorient: Adil Aouchiche and Igor Silva are missing with injuries, while Dango Ouattara is suspended.
