Bradford City will aim to continue an 11-match unbeaten streak on Tuesday and advance to the EFL Cup last eight for the first time since reaching the final as a 2012-13 final as a fourth-tier outfit.
After falling short of back-to-back promotions from League Two in the League One playoffs last season, the Bantams enjoyed a strong start to 2026-27 under Graham Alexander, again establishing themselves as frontrunners in the third tier while navigating through three rounds of the EFL Cup, beating Rochdale 2-0, Burnley in a penalty shootout and Leyton Orient 3-1.
They have only conceded once in that run, while the Bantams have also excelled at the back in league action, sitting third thanks to the division's strongest defensive record having conceded just five goals in 12 outings and kept nine clean sheets, albeit while only scoring 10 at the other end.
The Yorkshire outfit's strong record at the back has continued despite a managerial change, with Michael Duff replacing the departing Alexander in August and overseeing three draws and a win in his first four games while they have kept a clean sheet in each to make it five in a row, beating Stevenage 2-0 before playing out stalemates with Burton Albion and Oxford United last week.
Now turning their focus back to the cup, having not tasted defeat on all fronts since the beginning of September, Bradford City will hope to add goals back to their strong defence and come out on top at the University of Bradford Stadium to move closer to repeating the 2012-13 heroics in the EFL Cup.
Their visitors, meanwhile, are seeking a first EFL Cup quarter-final in their history with cup pedigree behind them in recent years after winning the EFL Trophy in 2023-24 and successfully defending in 2024-25.
Unlike the hosts, Peterborough United's EFL Cup run thus far has been a highlight in a tough season, having also undergone a managerial change recently.
Luke Williams guided the Posh through the first three rounds as they beat Bristol Rovers, Watford and Barnsley, scoring nine goals along the way, but he would be dismissed in September when they sat on five points from seven matches.
Robbie Savage then took the reins in early October and begun with EFL Trophy and league wins over Ipswich Town Under-21s and Leicester City respectively before going winless in their last three outings, most recently drawing 1-1 at fellow strugglers Bromley at the weekend with Vernon Masara equalising in injury time to leave his side 21st on 10 points from 12 matches having scored 11 goals – one more than the hosts – but conceded 21.
Having seen their brief upturn under Savage slow down in recent weeks, Peterborough United will hope to again defy the odds on Tuesday back in the EFL Cup and extend their run to the final eight with an away victory, having prevailed on the road in each of the first two rounds including the 5-1 beating of second-tier Watford.

Whispers predicts: Bradford City 1-0 Peterborough United
Tuesday's game is tough to call with the hosts' games often low scoring while the visitors have struggled to keep things tight and begun to improve going forward under Savage. Bradford's defensive record is not one to underestimate, though, having kept five straight clean sheets and 12 in 17 in all competitions this season and we fancy them to stand strong and back under 2.5 goals at 19/20 (1.95).
While the Bantams are yet to get truly up and running under Michael Duff, drawing three of his first four games, they have continued their defensive solidity while the visitors have slowed under their new boss and conceded seven goals in their last three matches. With Bradford unbeaten in 11 games we back them to win the game in 90 minutes at 4/6 (1.67).
Peterborough United will certainly arrive looking to impose themselves and cause problems for the solid hosts, though, and will hope to create an open game with plenty of chances. Bradford themselves have had 41 corners in their last four league games while the Posh have won 43 in five matches under Savage. We fancy a high corner count as a result with over 12 corners priced at 5/2 (3.50).
> Under 2.5 goals at 19/20 (1.95) | Likelihood: Probable
> Bradford City to win at 4/6 (1.67) | Likelihood: Probable
> Over 12 corners at 5/2 (3.50) | Likelihood: Possible
