Barcelona first goalscorer odds vs Mallorca: Felix to take his chance?

Barcelona entertain Mallorca in La Liga on Friday night in their final game before a crunch Champions League Last 16 Second Leg against Napoli. The Barcelona first goalscorer odds vs Mallorca serve up a range of options with considerable doubt as to who exactly Xavi will pick in his starting XI.

Barca don’t only have Napoli to come next Tuesday, but they also travel to the Estadio Metropolitano the following weekend to take on Atletico Madrid in a league game they may need to win if they’re to retain even an outside shot at the title.

That could lead Xavi to rotate his team against Mallorca and he’ll be forced into at least a couple of changes after Pedri and Frenkie de Jong picked up injuries in Bilbao last time out. There is even a possibility that Pichichi hopeful Robert Lewandowski – who is just one booking away from a suspension – gets rested, so we’ve selected four other Barca first goalscorer picks for this one.

Barcelona first goalscorer odds vs Mallorca: Our picks

Joao Felix – 6/1

One man who does look very likely to start is Joao Felix. He has recently returned from injury but has struggled for consistency during an up and down season in Barcelona.

The Portuguese forward had one of his best games during Barca’s last home game against Getafe. He scored in the 53rd minute in a 4-0 win, but it wasn’t enough to convince Xavi to start him at San Mames. Pedri was preferred in the wide left role, effectively giving the Catalans an extra midfielder.

With Pedri now injured and out for at least a month, Felix has a chance to make the position his own again. You have to go back to October for the last time he completed 90 minutes in a Barcelona game, but Felix has managed to score eight times in all competitions for Barca from 21 starts and 31 appearances in total.

barcelona first goalscorer prediction - Lamine Yamal

Lamine Yamal – 8/1

Lamine Yamal will likely rotate back into the XI on Friday night. With Barcelona enduring an extensive injury crisis at times in 2024, he was required to play a lot of football for a 16 year old, which perhaps explains why Xavi has opted to rest him over the past fortnight with other options returning.

Yamal has been one of the few positives for Barcelona in recent months and scored a brace in the home draw against Granada in February to move onto five goals for the season.

With fresh injuries to deal with, Xavi may look to his young star again in this match, and he could have a big role to play in those two huge upcoming games. Up against a physical Mallorca defence, the tricks and speed of the teenager should be a dangerous attacking outlet.

Fermin Lopez

Fermin Lopez – 10/1

With no Pedri, no Frenkie de Jong and no Gavi, Barcelona’s midfield is not in great shape right now. To complicate matters further, the one player who perhaps needs a rest more than anyone is Ilkay Gundogan who has chalked up more minutes in La Liga than any other Barca stalwart this term.

As a result, young midfielder Fermin Lopez looks a certain starter here and he’s got a real eye for a goal. That immediately makes him an intriguing option when considering the Barcelona first goalscorer odds vs Mallorca. Fermin has only started 10 games in all competitions, but he’s scored four times and that includes the most recent goal that Barca scored, in the 4-0 win over Getafe.

barcelona first goalscorer prediction - Vitor Roque

Vitor Roque – 11/2

If Lewandowski is rested and protected ahead of next week’s action, Vitor Roque is the player most likely to take his place in the home attack. The 19 year old has shown flashes of quality since completing his move to Barcelona in January, but he’s not had that many opportunities until now.

He’s still managed to score twice in La Liga though, at an average of a strike every 82 minutes. He also boasted a prolific record in Brazil, so this could be the perfect opportunity for Vitor Roque to show what he can do in a relatively favourable home fixture.
