Atletico Madrid vs. Barcelona: Surprise Anthony Gordon odds to back for La Liga clash

La Liga‘s top two battle it out at the Metropolitano Stadium on Sunday night as Atletico Madrid host Barcelona.

Atletico are only two points behind the league leaders and a win would put them top of the table heading into the international break.

However, a Barca victory would put them five points clear of their nearest challengers, and on course for another La Liga title.

One player who could help them do that is Anthony Gordon, who we are backing to make the difference on Sunday.

Atletico Madrid vs. Barcelona: Gordon gets involved

Gordon's Barcelona career got off to a flyer with two assists on his debut in their 5-0 win at Elche, and he followed that up with further assists in victories against Rayo Vallecano and Valencia.

His first goal for the club came after the October international break, where he had scored three times for England and produced one assist.

After then netting in Barcelona's next game against Galatasaray in the Champions League, Gordon also scored in their last La Liga match against Alaves.

He has now reached double figures for goal contributions for club and country this season (G6, A4), and will aim to add to that against Atletico.

Atletico Madrid vs. Barcelona: Back Gordon to score

Barcelona are 84/100 (1.84) favourites to win, and have won on their last four visits to Atletico in La Liga.

That should mean plenty of chances for Gordon to attack, and we are backing Gordon to score anytime at 11/5 (3.20).

These odds are surprising considering as many as seven players from both sides combined are more favoured to find the net.

Thus, we feel they are worth a punt.
