Arsenal transfer news: Alex Scott ‘favouring’ move to Arsenal despite major ‘worry’

After another impressive campaign with Bournemouth, Alex Scott has emerged as one of the Premier League's most in-demand midfielders ahead of the closing stages of the summer transfer window.

The England international is attracting interest from a host of top-flight clubs, but Arsenal and Manchester United have reportedly moved to the front of the queue in the race for his signature.

According to reports, bitter rivals Arsenal and Manchester United are leading the chase to sign Scott, with Bournemouth valuing the midfielder at around £40 million.

While the Cherries are reluctant to part ways with one of their brightest talents, Scott has become the subject of widespread interest after another standout season on the south coast.

Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and Everton are also believed to be monitoring the 22-year-old, but it is Arsenal and United who are understood to be in pole position.

It is reported that Scott's representatives have already held talks with both Arsenal and Manchester United, with the player expected to make a decision on his future within the next fortnight.

The midfielder is believed to favour a move to the Emirates Stadium, although concerns remain over the amount of playing time he would receive under Mikel Arteta following Arsenal's Premier League title-winning campaign.

Scott's impressive form also saw him earn recognition at international level, receiving a call-up from Thomas Tuchel for England's fixtures against Serbia and Albania before later joining the Three Lions' training camp in Florida ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Manchester United, meanwhile, have already strengthened their midfield this summer with the arrivals of Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos.

Despite those additions, Michael Carrick is still keen to recruit another central midfielder, although reports suggest United are unwilling to enter a bidding war with Arsenal over Scott's signature.

FW verdict: Arsenal move makes the most sense

Scott's concern over regular minutes is understandable given Arsenal's strength in midfield, but the opportunity to join the reigning Premier League champions could prove difficult to turn down.

Manchester United would arguably offer a clearer route into the starting XI, yet Arsenal currently appear the more attractive sporting project.

With Bournemouth reluctant sellers and several clubs circling, the next fortnight could prove decisive in determining where one of England's brightest young midfielders plays his football next season.
