Latest transfer news today: Saudi striker offered PL return as Chelsea eye £50m midfielder

Although there is still plenty to play for at both ends of the Premier League table, the transfer rumour mill continues to churn out stories as the summer window approaches.

Behind the scenes, all 20 Premier League sides will be finalising their plans for the summer, so there will be some truth to at least a fraction of the stories out there.

Let's take a look at the biggest transfer stories of the day below.

Chelsea eye Bournemouth's Alex Scott

Chelsea are set for another busy transfer window, and the latest rumour out of Stamford Bridge is that the Blues are looking to sign Alex Scott from Bournemouth.

According to a report in the Independent, Chelsea have moved to the front of the queue for Scott, who has had the best season of his career to date at the Vitality Stadium.

The 22-year-old would reportedly be interested in pursuing a move this summer, but Bournemouth are under no pressure to sell and would command a fee of at least £50m for the midfielder.

With Enzo Fernandez flirting with a move to Real Madrid this summer, Chelsea will almost certainly be in the market for a new central midfielder, and if Scott's performances this season are anything to go by, then he could be a shrewd acquisition.

Everton to target Ivan Toney

Ivan Toney could be offered a route back to the Premier League by Everton this summer, with the Toffees keen to bolster their options at the top of the pitch.

According to a report from transfer expert Ekrem Konur on X, Everton hold a strong interest in the Al-Ahli forward, who has scored 27 goals in the Saudi Pro League season.

Toney is said to be open to a return to the Premier League, particularly as it would bolster his chances of returning to the international setup. The transfer fee wouldn't be a huge problem, but his astronomical wages could be a stumbling block.

Toney is clearly too good to be playing his prime years in Saudi Arabia, while Everton are in desperate need of a reliable goalscorer. Therefore, this is a deal that is worth keeping an eye on this summer.

The Anthony Gordon saga heats up

Anthony Gordon looks set to leave Newcastle this summer, and the saga ramped up on Saturday when Eddie Howe left him out of his Newcastle squad to face Bournemouth due to fears over the winger's lack of commitment to the club.

There are several clubs reportedly interested in the former Everton man, including Liverpool, who have kept tabs on him since he made the move to St James' Park back in January 2024.

Today, the Independent is reporting that Bayern Munich and Arsenal are also seriously interested in the player, with the German side lining up an offer. The same report states that Newcastle have slapped an £80m price tag on his head.

It seems inevitable that Gordon will move on from Newcastle this summer, but a quick resolution is unlikely due to the tense relations between the player and the Newcastle hierarchy.
