Authenticity (3/5): Atletico keeping tabs on Antony

Atletico Madrid are reportedly among a number of clubs monitoring Antony's progress on loan at Betis, as they weigh up whether to make a potential summer move.

That is according to The i Paper, who also claim that several Italian sides are also keeping a close eye on the Man United loanee.

Value (3/5): Man United set Antony asking price

Man United are said to be hopeful that they can sell Antony for £40m following his impressive form at Betis. While it is unclear whether Atletico are willing to meet that valuation, Betis will find it difficult to pay Man United's asking price, denting their hopes of converting his loan move into a permanent switch.

Suitability (4/5): Renaissance at Betis

Antony has showcased his attacking talent since joining Los Verdiblancos on loan in January. The Brazilian has scored four goals and provided four assists in 12 appearances, helping Manuel Pellegrini's side win eight, draw two and lose two matches during that period.

Upgrade? (2.5/5): Competition with Simeone

There has been some talk that Antoine Griezmann could leave in the summer window. However, Antony is unlikely to be viewed as a replacement, given the fact the Frenchman tends to operate in the front two.

Realistically, he would come into the club to compete for the right wing role with Giuliano Simeone, who has scored four goals and contributed seven assists in 37 competitive matches.

Logic (3/5): Big summer ahead

Antony would surely be keen to remain at Betis after rediscovering his best form with the Andalusian club. However, he may have to look at alternative options if they are unable to agree a fee with Man United.

Atletico would be a viable alternative, especially as they are a team capable of competing at the top of La Liga and in the Champions League. But, Antony may also be open to the prospect of a Serie A move if the opportunity presents itself this summer.

Whisper+ verdict: 15.5/25

We are a little sceptical about the plausibility of this move. Betis will likely do all they can to sign Antony on a permanent basis, but even if they fail, we are not sure Atletico will splash out £40m, especially as Simeone looks to be the first-choice option on the right of the midfield four.
