Ajax vs English teams last five H2Hs
Liverpool 1-0 Ajax – 1st December 2020
Ajax travelled to a quiet and empty Anfield with Liverpool having to cope with a load of injuries, so for the Dutch side to crumble and lose 1-0 was extremely disappointing for them. It was always going to be a tough away game in the group stages, but with the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alisson not playing it should have been a better result for the Eredivisie side.
Liverpool 2-1 Ajax – 13th September 2022
Ajax were handed more Anfield heartache in 2022 when Liverpool beat them once again, but this time the game was a lot closer and tougher to take at the end of 90 minutes. Liverpool raced into a 1-0 lead before Mohammed Kudus looked to have saved Ajax and got them a point. However, an 89th-minute winner from Joel Matip crushed the Dutch side and sent Anfield wild.
Ajax 0-3 Liverpool – 27th October 2022
Once again, Ajax faced Liverpool in the Champions League and it was just a few weeks after their crushing late defeat at Anfield. However, that looked to be their chance because this time around they were embarrassed in front of their own fans. Goals from Mohammed Salah, Darwin Nunez and Harvey Elliott before the 52nd minute ruined Ajax's chances of progressing out of the group stages.
Brighton 2-0 Ajax – 26th October 2023
It was almost exactly a year since Ajax last played an English side when they travelled to face Brighton who were playing in Europe for the first time in the club's history. The Dutch giants collapsed on the south coast when they were struggling at the beginning of the season. Goals from Joao Pedro and Ansu Fati were enough to humiliate Ajax.
Ajax 0-2 Brighton – 9th November 2023
Ajax had a chance to get revenge on Brighton when they welcomed them to the Johan Cruyff Arena, but it was yet another early-season nightmare for the historic Dutch team. Fati made it two in two appearances against Ajax, while Simon Adingra finished the game off and all but secured the Segaulls' spot in the knockout stage.

Potential MVP: Brian Brobbey to score a brace – 12/1
Brian Brobbey has been a man-inspired this season for Ajax keeping big-money summer signing Chuba Akpom out of the starting lineup. Brobbey only managed to score in one game during their poor Europa League group stage campaign, but when he did it was a brace against Marseille.
The Dutch striker has only managed to score a brace on three other occasions this season so it's nothing unusual for Brobbey, and with Ajax being against an in-form Aston Villa side, he may well cause an upset.
Key trend: Both Teams to Score – No (13/10)
Ajax have been in shockingly bad form when it comes to facing against English teams. They haven't been able to find the back of the net against an English team in any of their last three attempts, including two this season. So, it looks to be a huge uphill task for Ajax to come through this two-legged affair against Aston Villa.
