Whisper+ analysis
Authenticity (2/5): Who is in the know?
In the hunt for a long-term replacement for Kyle Walker, Man City are weighing up a move for Nottingham Forest's Ola Aina, before the full-back commits his future to his current club.
That is according to givemesport.com, who claim their sources suggest there is growing confidence at City over a possible deal, but who those sources are remains a mystery.
Value (2.5/5): City facing competition
With a market value of £11.75 million and only six months remaining on his contract, Aina would ordinarily be available for a bargain price, even with two goals and part of a Forest defence that has kept nine clean sheets.
But with a new deal seemingly close to being signed and interest from Saudi Arabia, City would have to cough up a much bigger fee to get Forest's attention.
Suitability (4.5/5): Excellent PL pro
The London-born Nigerian international came through the ranks at Chelsea, cut his teeth at Hull City, Torino and Fulham before becoming an integral part of Forest's incredible season.
Now a top class Premier League defender, the 28-year-old is hitting his prime and ready to play as a marauding right-back in Pep Guardiola's side.
Upgrade? (4/5): Replacing a legend
There is no doubting Kyle Walker's quality over the last decade or more, but there is also no doubting that his output is waning at the age of 34, while Rico Lewis is still too inconsistent.
Aina may not be as good as prime Walker, but he is certainly an upgrade on City's current right-back options.
Logic (3/5): New Forest deal tempting
For City, the clock is ticking if they want to make Aina their new right-back, thus it makes sense for them to at least meet with the Tricky Trees.
It may not last long, but Forest are in a healthier position than City right now, and an improvement to his £40,000-a-week wages could be enough for Aina to commit his future to the City Ground.
Whisper+ verdict: 16/25
Aina's talents are plain to see, but it seems City are somewhat rushing into this. Signing a new deal at Forest still looks the most likely outcome for now.
