Brazil, one of the tournament's favourites, began their 2026 World Cup campaign with a disappointing performance in Group C. The Selecao's hope of winning the group was dashed after their opening game, as they drew with Morocco and fell to third place.

However, they bounced back in their second game against Haiti, securing a victory that took them to the top of the standings, above the Atlas Lions, who also secured a win over Scotland in the tournament.

Following Selecao's first win, they snatched the top spot position from Scotland, who led the table in the first round, while the Atlas Lions hold the second spot. The Scottish side also dropped down to third, and Haiti remained the underdog in fourth place.

Football Whispers breaks down Group C in full, including fixtures, latest odds and predictions.

Group C winners odds

  • Brazil – 1/2
  • Morocco – 6/4
  • Scotland – 33/1
  • Haiti – NA

The bookmakers have made Brazil the outright favourite to win the group after their impressive win over Haiti. Scotland, on the other hand, who took advantage of Selecao's slip-up in the first game to go top of the table, have now dropped to third place after losing to Morocco, who are now second favourites in the standings, while the Grenadiers remain bottom of the table.

Group C qualification odds

  • Brazil – 1/1000
  • Morocco – 1/1000
  • Scotland – 2/5
  • Haiti – NA

Based on these odds, the bookmakers have made Brazil and Morocco favourites to progress to the next round, while Scotland need a positive result in their third game to have a chance of progressing, even as one of the best third-placed teams (eight of 12 third-placed teams will qualify for the knockout stages).

2026 World Cup Group C prediction and betting angles

Brazil

Brazil arrived with one of the strongest squads in the tournament, despite finishing fifth in CONMEBOL qualifying.

However, they failed to live up to expectations in their first game against Morocco, as the Atlas Lions held them to a 1-1 draw.

In their second game, the Selecao showed why they are one of the favourites to win the tournament, having thrashed Haiti 3-0 to go top of the standings.

Following the victory, the bookmakers have tipped them as favourites to win the group and reach the knockout stages.

Morocco

Morocco entered the tournament as Africa’s highest‑ranked side and arguably one of the most consistent national teams of the past four years.

Their 2022 World Cup semi‑final run demonstrated their ability to compete with elite nations, and they followed that with a perfect qualifying record, with eight wins from eight.

With the hope of replicating their 2022 World Cup performance, the Atlas Lions kick-started their campaign by gaining the first point for Africa after holding the five-time world champions to a draw.

The draw boosted their confidence, which they carried into their second game against Scotland, where they won 1-0 to move up to second place in the table.

The result puts them in a favourable position to qualify for the knockout stages, with the bookmakers picking them to join Brazil in the next round.

Scotland

Scotland returned to the World Cup for the first time since 1998 after a strong qualifying campaign, winning their group ahead of Denmark, despite them being 42nd in the FIFA rankings.

Following their return after 28 years, Scotland began their World Cup campaign with a narrow 1-0 victory over Haiti, having returned to the competition after 52 years.

The victory puts them at the top of the Group C table, but they were brought down to third place after losing to Morocco in the second round.

Scotland now faces a significant challenge in qualifying for the next round, and they will need a positive result against Brazil in their next game, with the bookmakers still predicting qualification.

Haiti

Haiti made their second World Cup appearance and their first since 1974. They qualified ahead of Costa Rica and Honduras, two established regional sides.

However, they started their World Cup campaign with a 1-0 loss to Scotland, making their qualification hopes a fantasy.

Their chances of making it to the next round were further reduced after being thrashed 3-0 in their second game by Brazil.

The bookmakers already see them as the underdogs of the group, and after two defeats, they have no hope of qualification.

  4. Haiti

Group C best bets

No bets advised, as Brazil’s bookmakers to win the group and Scotland's 2/5 to qualify offer limited value. Although the Scottish side has a slim chance of finishing top of the group at 33/1, ahead of Brazil. Obviously, it is a long shot given they need to defeat Brazil in their last group game.
