Wycombe are preparing for a sixth successive season in League One after an 11th-placed finish under Michael Duff.

He has been kept on as manager, tasked to try and get them into the Championship for the first time since 2020/21.

The Chairboys have made as many as seven new signings to help bolster the squad, although 10 players have also left the club.

Matt Macey is a long-term absentee for Wycombe, but they appear to have no fresh injury concerns, and it remains to be seen how strong of a starting XI they will field with the new League One season set to kick off in just over a week.

Stevenage have the same dilemma, as they also have no fresh injury concerns at the time of writing.

After missing out on promotion via the play-offs last season, the Boro have made four new signings so far to try and help them get over the line, although as many as nine players have left the club.

Alex Revell remains in charge though, and after a shaky start to pre-season where they drew 0-0 to Andorra and were thrashed 5-0 by West Ham United, his team come into this tie off the back of two 1-0 victories.

Stevenage know this game will not be easy on away soil, but having finished above Wycombe last term, they will back themselves to progress.

Whispers predicts: Wycombe Wanderers 1-1 Stevenage (Stevenage to qualify)

Wycombe are 5/4 (2.25) favourites to win, but given Stevenage's winning momentum and the fact they finished above Wycombe last campaign, we are happy to back the visitors.

Stevenage to qualify at 6/5 (2.20), whether that would be in normal time or after penalties, therefore appeals as an opening bet.

Only seven total goals have been scored in the four previous friendlies involving the Boro too, so Under 2.5 goals at 3/4 (1.75) could also be worth backing.

Overall, we are predicting a Correct score – 1-1 at 11/2 (6.50) after normal time, as we are expecting it to be a close encounter with not much to separate the sides.

📈 Wycombe vs. Stevenage — Whispers' Tips

> Under 2.5 goals at 3/4 (1.75) | Likelihood: Probable

> Stevenage to qualify at 6/5 (2.20) | Likelihood: Possible

> Correct score – 1-1 at 11/2 (6.50) | Likelihood: Outsider
