Having raced into the Championship after successive promotions from non-league, Wrexham just missed out on the play-offs last season.
The Hollywood owners will not give up their dream of bringing the Dragons to the Premier League though, and will continue to back Phil Parkinson in the transfer market.
Issa Kabore looks set to join from Manchester City, but it is currently up in the air whether he will sign in time to be in the squad.
Liberato Cacace and Josh Windass are likely to miss out again, but Ben Sheaf is back in training and could return to the side.
Having won League One with a record points total in 2024/25, Birmingham finished in midtable on their return to the Championship.
Their owners have ambitions of reaching the Premier League once again, but the Blues have not had the explosive start to the season they would have wanted.
Chris Davies' team were also stunned in the Carabao Cup by Brentford, and while they faced top-flight opposition, losing 6-1 on home soil brings real concern.
New signing Max Bird continues to be ruled out with injury, and Davies may be tempted to revert back to a similar XI from their last Championship outing, the 2-2 draw at home to Bristol City.

Whispers predicts: Wrexham 1-1 Birmingham City
Wrexham are slight 154/100 (2.54) favourites for victory, but given they have not yet won this season, we fancy Birmingham to get a result.
The Draw at 5/2 (3.50) certainly appeals here, with both teams not in great form.
With only five goals scored in total in Wrexham's three matches in all competitions this season, Under 2.5 goals at 5/6 (1.83) could also come through.
Having scored in his last two appearances, Demarai Gray could be given a start for Birmingham, and so Gray to score anytime at 10/3 (4.33) could be worth a punt.
Overall, we are predicting a 1-1 draw, which is available at 6/1 (7.00).
> Under 2.5 goals at 5/6 (1.83) | Likelihood: Probable
> Draw at 5/2 (3.50) | Likelihood: Possible
> Gray to score anytime at 10/3 (4.33) | Likelihood: Possible
