Over 1.5 goals for Liverpool

Liverpool have scored at least two goals in six of their last nine matches

Liverpool's quest to finish in the Premier League‘s Champions League spots continues on Tuesday, when they take on Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux Stadium.

Following their 5-2 triumph against West Ham United at Anfield on Saturday, Liverpool moved into fifth place, and their points tally of 48 dwarfs 20th-placed Wolves' 13 points.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Liverpool prediction: Both teams improving

Key stats

  • Liverpool have scored at least two goals in six of their nine most recent matches.
  • Wolves have failed to score in five of their past eight games.
  • The visitors have kept as many clean sheets in their last four fixtures (three) as they had in their prior eight outings.

Correct score prediction: Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-3 Liverpool

Wolves' performances of late have significantly improved, but they have failed to prove all season that they can consistently create the chances needed to threaten teams in the Premier League.

While Liverpool can still improve in a number of areas, there is no doubting that the team have started to win when it matters most, and there is little reason to think that the hosts can cause an upset.

Pre-game odds and win probability: Liverpool predicted to win by the bookmakers

  • HOME: 11/2 (6.5) – 15.4%
  • DRAW: 4/1 (5) – 20%
  • AWAY: 2/5 (1.4) – 71.4%

*odds from Ladbrokes, subject to change

Liverpool are the expected winner of this clash, with a probability of 71.4%, and the bookmakers would be surprised if their opponents managed to take anything from Tuesday's clash.

Midfielder Andre was forced off against Villa due to injury, and his potential absence may lead to starts for Angel Gomes and Joao Gomes in a double pivot.

Player to watch: Mohamed Salah

Liverpool veteran Mohamed Salah came in for significant criticism after his performance against West Ham on Saturday, with the forward having failed to score in 10 consecutive Premier League games.

Salah has still been a creative influence for the Reds, but the longer his drought continues in front of goal, the more his place in the starting XI will be questioned.
