Villarreal preview: Looking to maintain their perfect home record

Villarreal will be eager to restart another unbeaten run after league leaders Real Madrid crashed their three-game winning streak in the top flight just before the international break.

The Yellow Submarine will have to do without Pay Cabanes and Logan Costa for this weekend's game as both players have long-term cruciate ligament injuries, while Juan Foyth (muscle) and Willy Kambwala (hamstring) are also unavailable.

Attacking stars Ayoze Perez and Gerard Moreno are getting closer to full recovery from injury, but it remains to be seen if both players will be fit enough for a place in the bench this weekend. Meanwhile, Santiago Mourino will not be available for selection following his dismissal in Madrid last time out.

Predicted lineup: Tenas (GK), Navarro, Marin, Veiga, Cardona, Akhomach, Comesana, Gueye, Moleiro, Pepe & Mikautadze.

Last five matches

  • Real Madrid 3-1 Villarreal
  • Villarreal 2-2 Juventus
  • Villarreal 1-0 Athletic Bilbao
  • Sevilla 1-2 Villarreal
  • Villarreal 2-1 Osasuna

Marc Bartra (muscle problems) remains sidelined alongside Diego Llorente, while it remains to be seen whether Sofyan Amrabat will be able to feature from the bench, as the Moroccan still has muscular problems to deal with.

Predicted lineup: Lopez (GK), Rodriguez, Natan, Gomez, Bellerin, Roca, Fornals, Ezzalzouli, Lo Celso, Antony & Hernandez.

Last five matches

  • Espanyol 1-2 Real Betis
  • Ludogorets 0-2 Real Betis
  • Real Betis 2-0 Osasuna
  • Real Betis 2-2 Nottingham Forest
  • Real Betis 3-1 Real Sociedad
