Villarreal finally halted their winless streak after coming from behind to beat Malaga 3-1 on the road on Thursday night.
The Yellow Submarine were the third best team in La Liga last season but have had a disappointing campaign so far, earning only five points from their first six matches.
Inigo Perez's side are 14th in the Spanish top flight, just above local rivals Levante, who have likewise earned five points thus far. Their first win came at a cost, as key midfielder Santi Comesana picked up a muscular injury which will see him sidelined till next month.
Pape Gueye came on for Comesana and put in a man-of-the-match performance, scoring a brace. The 27-year-old is expected to reclaim his place in the starting XI for this encounter.
On the other hand, Levante's midweek clash against Athletic Bilbao was postponed due to a severely waterlogged pitch caused by torrential rain. With that in mind, the visiting team's last match was a 4-2 home defeat against Barcelona.
It is worth mentioning that Luis Castro's men have played three away games in La Liga this season without scoring a single goal. However, they will fancy their chances against a Villarreal side that failed to keep a clean sheet in eight consecutive matches across all competitions.
