Mexico are our favourites to win this match and we can see both teams scoring after they did well in the first round of Copa America. On top of that, two of the last three meetings between Venezuela and Mexico have ended in 3-1 Mexico wins, which is what we expect to happen again on Thursday.

It's clear from the Mexico vs Jamaica odds that Central American team are the expected winners, which makes sense if we consider the quality of the two teams alone.
On top of that, Mexico have done better in recent H2H duels against Venezuela and they entered this tournament as the reigning CONCACAF champions, so we probably expected them to be an even bigger favourites than the odds suggest.

Last five H2Hs: Complete domination by Mexico
Twice in the last five duels Mexico have beaten Venezuela, along with a couple of draws and one win for Venezuela, which happened in 2011 in a friendly with Mexico's U22 team. If we don't count that match for the overall H2H record, Mexico have 10 wins over Venezuela and no losses, along with four draws.

Venezuela preview: A chance looming for the next stage
While Venezuela arrived to Copa America with low expectations, their win over Ecuador in the first round has raised the nation's hope of getting out of the group stage.
However, it's worth noting that Venezuela had a huge advantage of playing with a player more after Ener Valencia was sent off in the 22nd minute of the game and even then, they conceded a goal and had to turn the match around in the second half.

Mexico preview: Things going according to the plan
While this Mexico's Copa America squad has high ambitions and they did manage to start the tournament with a win over a good Jamaica team, it wasn't a great performance by Mexico by any means. A single goal made all the difference and Mexico will have to do better if they want to go far here.
On top of that, Mexico's Edson Alvarez suffered an injury that will likely keep him off the pitch for a while at least, possibly even for the whole tournament.
Predicted lineup: Gonzalez (GK), Sanchez, Montes, Vasquez, Arteaga, Romo, Chavez, Vega, Pineda, Quinones & Gimenez

Player to watch: Santiago Gimenez
While Gimenez failed to score against Jamaica and while he only scored four goals for his national team so far, he is still the key player to focus on in this Mexico team, at least on the offensive end.

Gimenez had a great season
After he was one of the top scorers in Eredivisie last season with 23 goals in the league as one of Feyenoord's key players, Gimenez came to Copa America high on confidence. We didn't see any of his magic against Jamaica, so will we see it against Venezuela?
