Jens Berthel Askou’s tenure at Toulouse hasn’t started smoothly, with his side now winless in back-to-back league outings.

La Tefece opened their season with a 2-0 loss to Olympique Lyonnais, before Brest held them to a 2-2 draw at Stade Francis-Le Ble. Ludovic Ajorque’s stoppage-time equaliser rescued a late point for the Pirates.

After their defeat at Stadium de Toulouse to Lyon, the hosts now risk tasting successive home defeats for the first time since April 2025.

Aaron Donnum and Abu Francis are confirmed absentees for Toulouse. As for Lille, Hamza Igamane, Tanguy Nianzou and Mathias Fernandez-Pardo are expected to miss this clash.

In stark contrast, Lille have enjoyed a fantastic start to the new season. They beat Angers 2-0 on the opening matchday, before PSG’s late comeback denied them a second straight win.

The Mastiffs were leading by two goals until the 90th minute, but the Parisians had other plans. Vitinha halved Lille’s led in the first minute of stoppage time, followed by Marquinhos’ 95th-minute equaliser.

Despite being denied a victory, Lille have lost just one of their last 16 Ligue 1 fixtures, winning nine and drawing six.

Whispers predicts: Toulouse 1-3 Lille

At 23/20 (2.15), Lille are favourites to win, per Bet365. The visitors have lost just one of their last nine H2Hs while Toulouse are winless in their opening two games of the season.

Despite playing only 22 minutes, Dilane Bakwa made a difference against PSG, scoring an important goal in the 84th minute before the visitors executed a comeback. At 7/2 (3.50), Bakwa as anytime goalscorer offers significant returns. Five of his last six goals have come after half-time.

Over 3.5 total goals at 11/4 (3.75) carries immense value, with both sides expected to entertain in a high-scoring clash. Seven of Toulouse’s last eight games featured over 2.5 goals, and this one is expected to go one over.

While only two of Lille’s last 11 away matches saw both teams score, BTTS – Yes at 5/6 (1.83) is a bet worth backing. Both teams are likely to find the net.
