Authenticity (2/5): Spurs among clubs chasing Ait-Nouri

Tottenham have reportedly joined Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United in the race to sign Ait-Nouri from Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer.

That is according to Football Insider, who offer little detail about their sources in this transfer update.

Value (3.5/5): Tottenham learn Ait-Nouri asking price

The report claims that Spurs would have to spend £40m to sign a player who is under contract with Wolves until the summer of 2026, with an option to extend by a further year.

That appears to be a little on the steep side, with Transfermarkt valuing Ait-Nouri in the region of €35m (29.2m).

Suitability (4/5): Attacking full-back

Ait-Nouri tends to play as a left wing-back in Vitor Pereira's 3-4-2-1 system, which enables him to contribute to his team's attacking play. The Algeria international has contributed three goals and five assists in 28 Premier League appearances this season.

His front-foot approach should suit Ange Postecoglou's aggressive style of play, although there is some doubt about whether the Australian will still be in his post at the start of next season.

Upgrade? (3.5/5): Udogie concerns

There is a belief that Spurs are considering a move for Ait-Nouri due to concerns over Udogie's inconsistent form. Tottenham can call upon Djed Spence as an alternative left-back option, but they will be keen to bring in reinforcements if Udogie fails to show signs of improvement.

Logic (2.5/5): Could lack of European football hamper move?

Ait-Nouri will likely want to join a club that can offer him European football if he leaves Wolves this summer. As a result, a move to Spurs may not be the best option, with the North London club at risk of missing out on European competition. Postecoglou's side will have to win the Europa League if they are to seal European qualification.

Whisper+ verdict: 15.5/25

Ait-Nouri will be looking to make a step up when the current season draws to a close. He would surely suit Postecoglou's philosophy, although the real risk of no European football could prove to be a major stumbling block.
