Whisper+ Analysis

Authenticity (2/5): Spurs among clubs chasing Bailey

Tottenham are reportedly among five clubs that are looking to sign Bailey in the summer transfer window.

According to TBR Football, Spurs are competing with Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig, Eintracht Frankfurt and Marseille for the Villa attacker.

Value (2/5): Villa in strong position

The report does not provide any insight into how much Villa will want for the Jamaica international.  However, Villa are certainly under no pressure to sell due to Bailey's contract situation. The 27-year-old is under contract until the summer of 2027, with an option to extend by a further 12 months.

Suitability (3/5): Concerns over current form

Bailey's strengths lie in carrying the ball and creating chances for his teammates. However, he has struggled to replicate the form he showed last season.

The winger netted 14 goals and provided 14 assists in 52 competitive appearances last term, compared to just two goals and four assists in 36 matches in the current campaign.

Upgrade (2/5): Kulusevski is Tottenham's first-choice

It is difficult to see how Bailey would gain regular playing opportunities at Tottenham if Dejan Kulusevski remains in North London. The Sweden international tends to operate off the right flank and is one of the first names on Ange Postecoglou's teamsheet.

Logic (3.5/5): Fresh start

Bailey may be open to the prospect of moving to Spurs if he wants to stay in the Premier League. The attacker may also be on the lookout for a new challenge, with regular starting opportunities not guaranteed at Villa amid competition from Marco Asensio and Morgan Rogers.

Whisper+ Verdict: 12.5/25

We do not see this move coming to fruition. Bailey will want regular game time if he leaves Villa, which Tottenham will struggle to offer due to Kulusevski's importance to the squad. There would also be concerns about how much the Villans would demand for Bailey's signature.
