Sunderland vs Norwich prediction: Canaries in freefall

Key facts:

  • Sunderland are unbeaten at home this season.
  • Norwich have won just twice on the road this campaign.
  • No Championship team has seen more goals in their games than Norwich's 68.

Correct score prediction: Sunderland 2-2 Norwich

Norwich have had a rough December so far, with two defeats and a draw. Sunderland is a a tough place to go, and the Black Cats have found their groove again in recent weeks, with two wins and a draw in their last three.

However, Norwich have been full of surprises (both bad and good) this campaign, and we think they have the attacking talent to head back to Norfolk with a point.

HOME: 17/20  (1.85) – 54.1%
DRAW: 13/5 (3.60) – 27.8%
AWAY: 3/1 (4.00) – 25.0%

*Odds from Ladbrokes, subject to change

Sunderland preview: Promotion push

Sunderland come into this one in decent form, having turned things around with a pair of wins over Stoke and Swansea in their last three matches.

The Black Cats are aiming for promotion back to the Premier League after far too long away, but look a step off the pace of top three Burnley, Leeds and Sheffield United.

The Wearsiders' injury issues have continued, however, with eight players out for this one.

Predicted lineup: Patterson (GK), Hume, Mepham, Ballard, Cerkin, Neil, Rigg, Bellingham, Roberts, Isidor, Mayenda

Norwich preview: Canaries caged?

Despite being the league's great entertainers, the goals have dried up for Norwich in their last three, with just one scored.

Their defence has not improved to make up for it unfortunately, and the Canaries have just one clean sheet in 12 games.

The Norfolk club are already eight points off the playoff spots – they cannot afford to lose this one.

Borja Sainz has lit up the Championship this season – Photo by imago/Izzy Poles

Player to watch: Borja Sainz

Arguably the Championship's standout player, Spaniard Borja Sainz has been exceptional for the Canaries this season.

With 15 goals and two assists, Sainz has had a hand in 47% of the Yellows' goals. If they are to emerge from the Stadium of Light with anything, they will need their main man to perform.
