Bochum will take on Stuttgart in the Bundesliga on Saturday, 5 April with the home side running out of time to save their skin in the race to beat the drop.
Bochum come into the match two points behind a place in the relegation play-off and five points behind complete safety so every point is huge from here on out.
Stuttgart, meanwhile, have seen their hopes of playing in Europe next season evaporate in recent weeks. They are now languishing in midtable and have very little to play for in the league.

Bochum vs Stuttgart prediction: Hosts to take something from the match
Key Stats
- Bochum have won or drawn more than 50% of their last seven Bundesliga matches.
- Stuttgart have won less than 15% of their last seven Bundesliga matches.
- Three of Bochum's last five matches have produced fewer than three goals.
Correct score prediction: Bochum 1-1 Stuttgart
Despite there being 17 points between the two sides in the Bundesliga table, Bochum come into this in the better form of the two. Stuttgart have only managed to win one Bundesliga match since the middle of January and Bochum have plenty more to play which naturally gives them an advantage in terms of intensity.
Pre-game odds and win probability: Bochum start as underdogs
- HOME: 21/10 (3.10) – 32.3%
- DRAW: 13/5 (3.60) – 27.8%
- AWAY: 5/4 (2.25) – 44.4%

Most recent H2Hs: Stuttgart have the better record
Stuttgart have won four of their last five meetings with Bochum and won the reverse fixture earlier this season 2-0. It's not all bad news for Bochum, though, as they won the corresponding fixture last season 1-0. An identical result here would be a monumental result for the hosts.

Bochum preview: Another playoff is on the horizon
Last year, Bochum were forced to play a playoff against Dusseldorf where they pulled off a miraculous comeback from 3-0 down on aggregate to force a penalty shootout which they went on to win. The drama of such an occasion is very much unwanted this time around, but as things stand, they could have no other choice.

Stuttgart preview: A season that is petering out
Stuttgart enjoyed a stunning campaign last season, finishing second to Bayer Leverkusen, so the fact they are now set to finish in mid-table does feel like an underachievement. The Stuttgart hierarchy would be wise to ignore those feelings as Sebastian Hoeness is one of the finest young managers in Europe, and letting him go would be a colossal error.

Player to watch: Ermedin Demirovic

Stuttgart's talisman, Ermedin Demirovic, will be keen to get his side out of their slump this weekend but on a personal level, he is running out of time to match the goals tally he managed last season for Aursberg. At present, the Bosnian is five goals short of the 15 he netted in 2023/24 and with just seven games left he needs to get a move on.
