Strasbourg were the beneficiaries of a week’s rest for their two-legged Conference League quarter-final against Mainz. They made the most of it, having entered the second leg trailing by two goals. An emphatic 4-0 triumph in the return leg ensured their first-ever semi-final berth in a major European competition.

Before their continental commitments, Le Racing made it back-to-back wins against Nice and Nantes, extending their unbeaten league run to seven games.

Strasbourg have now lost only once across their last 12 competitive matches.

Five players are currently sidelined for the hosts: Junior Mwanga, Valentin Barco, Guela Doue, Joaquin Panichelli and Aaron Anselmino.

Meanwhile, Rennes have five missing as well. Valentin Rongier is out due to accumulation of yellow cards. Jeremy Jacquet, Lucas Rosier, Arnaud Nordin and Przemyslaw Frankowski sit out with injuries.

Frank Haise has boosted spirits in the Rennes camp since his arrival in February. Les Rennais have won five of their seven matches under his tutelage.

Back-to-back wins have lifted them to sixth position, and they now remain unbeaten in three on the trot.

Lille were the last side to inflict defeat on the hosts. Visiting Strasbourg is going to be no walk in the park for the side from Brittany.

Whispers Predicts: Strasbourg 2-2 Rennes

Only two of the last 23 head-to-heads between the two teams ended level. But considering their respective forms, another one is likely on the way. Backing a Draw at 13/5 offers substantial value.

Strasbourg conceded six of their last seven goals against French opposition after the interval. Meanwhile, Rennes have conceded 19 of their 26 away league goals this season after half-time. Given the stats at play, hedging Over 2.5 goals in the second-half at 13/5 provides dividends.

Just one of Rennes’ last 12 matches was 0-0 at the break. Rennes are unbeaten at the interval in 22 of their 29 league fixtures, while Strasbourg are undefeated at half-time in 24 of their 28 matches. A cagey first-half draw at 5/4 makes sense.

Julio Enciso has been instrumental for Strasbourg in recent games, scoring two and assisting two in his last three appearances. Backing him to score anytime at 23/10 is a worthy bet.
