Match Preview, Team Information, and Stoke vs Everton Lineups
Stoke
There aren't many funds to go around at Stoke these days. The club is struggling to finance its transfer market activity, but the top brass is finding ways to strengthen the team with mostly loan signings and free transfers. The only player that arrived and which needed a fee to be paid was Andre Vidigal who was brought in from Portugal club Maritimo. The other newcomers are Ki-Jana Hoever, Ben Pearson, Chiquinho, and Daniel Johnson. Enda Stevens' availability is under question ahead of this friendly match.
Expected lineup: Bonham, Wilmot, Taylor, McCarron, Hoever, Baker, Pearson, Laurent, Etebo, Chiquinho, Campbell.
Everton
The supporters have become frustrated with the lack of transfer news from Goodison Park these days, but that finally changed this week when Arnaut Danjuma finally joined the club on loan from Villareal. The Dutch international player has been the biggest wish of coach Sean Dyche and he finally got his man. The left-wing player should bring much excitement to the team this season. Other newcomers are Thomas Cannon and Ashley Young who at 38 years of age is one of the oldest players in the Premier League.
Expected lineup: Pickford, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Keane, Mykolenko, Coleman, Onana, Garner, Doucoure, Maupay, Calvert-Lewin.
Player to Watch: James Garner
Everton didn't have much success in the last couple of years, but the club does have some good young players who are highly sought-after across the Premier League. One of those players is James Garner. A former Manchester United youth player joined Everton last year and immediately made an impact. He made 17 appearances last year which was his first full season in the Premier League. This year, he should get more opportunities to prove his worth.
His best seasons came when he was on loan at Nottingham Forest which back then played in the Championship. Throughout his career, playing at the youth level and senior football, Garner accumulated 183 appearances with 23 goals and 20 assists. He has been a part of each youth setup of the England national team.
