Following their humiliating exit from the Champions League just over a week ago, Celtic are in need of a win in a big match to try and repair some of the damage between the club and its supporters.
While St. Mirren away wouldn't traditionally be classed as a big match for Celtic, it feels like one this season due to the hot start the Saints have made to the new season.
A win here would see Celtic open up a five-point gap at the top of the league table, which is plenty of motivation for Martin O'Neill and his squad, who, aside from the disaster in Austria, have performed well so far this season.
Injuries are starting to add up in Glasgow, with Callum Osmand, Kieran Tierney, Kasper Hogh, Alistair Johnston and Jota all unavailable for this fixture.
As for O'Neill's opposite number, Craig McLeish, life couldn't have started much better for him at St. Mirren after taking over from Stephen Robinson in the summer.
