St. Louis City SC vs Minnesota United prediction: Minnesota to heap more misery on struggling hosts
Key stats
- Our St. Louis City SC vs Minnesota United betting tips acknowledge the home side's defensive struggles, as they have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last 13 matches across all competitions.
- They have also conceded the opening goal in each of the most recent five outings, which has seen them go into the interval trailing in four of those clashes.
- Albeit not as much as their hosts, Minnesota United have also been suspect at the back of late and head into Sunday's game aiming to record a first shutout in five games.
- Both teams have scored in all but two of the last 10 games involving Sunday's visitors, indicating that an exciting match is on the cards here.
Correct score prediction: St. Louis City SC 1-3 Minnesota United
St. Louis City's struggles in defence, coupled with their underwhelming attack, make it hard to imagine a positive outcome here.
We fully expect Minnesota United to emerge triumphant at the end of the 90 minutes.

Minnesota United, with a win probability of 43.5%, are considered favourites to secure maximum points, but the away team will need to bring their A game.
Eric Ramsay's men had to make do with a share of the spoils from their last outing against the Portland Timbers following a 1-1 stalemate.
Anthony Markanich's opening goal 13 minutes from time gave the Loons the lead, but Omir Fernandez restored parity in stoppage time.
St. Louis City, meanwhile, were comprehensively thrashed 3-0 against FC Dallas in their most recent outing, which yielded a fourth defeat in five matches.
Kaick's opener in the 24th minute and a Petar Musa second-half double left David Critchley and his charges red-faced.

Minnesota United preview: Ho-yeon Jung's rough debut season continues
Since making the move from Korean side Gwangju, Jung's time in Minnesota has not gone as planned. The 24-year-old has often found himself on the bench most of the time and suffered an injury in a friendly matchup against Holstein Kiel earlier this month.
Hassani Dotson is the visitors' only other injury concern, while Joaquin Pereyra and Nelson Romero are suspended.

Player to watch – Anthony Markanich
Despite making just 15 league starts, Anthony Markanich has been one of Minnesota's better performers this term, with six goals and one assist to his name from left-back.
The 25-year-old was handed only 30 minutes in his side's most recent outing, where he still grabbed a goal 15 minutes after coming on as a substitute, and it is hard to see him being overlooked for a start on Sunday.

Markanich on the verge of nailing down starting spot
While he has always been a decent defender, Markanich's attacking output had been the biggest area of improvement as he ended last season with no goal or assist in league action.
Fast forward to this season, the American is averaging a goal contribution every 180 minutes, so it looks to be only a matter of time before he becomes one of the first names on the team sheet.
