Sporting have the home advantage and head into this game as the favourite with the bookmakers but Porto have the psychological edge having won each of their last five games against Sporting in all competitions.

Sporting Lisbon vs Porto prediction – Betting tips & odds

Hot Tip – Over 2.5 Goals

  • Four of the last six meetings between Sporting and Porto have produced over 2.5 goals.
  • At least three goals have been scored in five of Sporting's last six matches in all competitions.

Another reason that we have backed over 2.5 goals as our main prediction for this game is that each of Porto's last six outings have ended with over 2.5 goals being scored.

Sporting Lisbon vs Porto team news

Sporting

Sporting played out a five-goal thriller at the Estádio Dom Afonso Henriques in their last league game against Vitoria Guimaraes. The teams went in level at the break, with Goncalo Inacio putting Sporting in front only for Guimaraes to equalise in first-half stoppage time.

The home side took the lead in the 73rd minute but substitute Nuno Santos got Sporting back onto level terms a few minutes later. The final goal of this game went the way of Guimaraes with ten minutes left on the clock and Sporting loss was Porto's gain as the gap between the two clubs has now evaporated.

Jerry St. Juste and Iván Fresneda are the two main injury concerns for the home side ahead of Monday's big game.

Predicted Lineup: Adán (GK), Esgaio, Reis, Inácio, Diomande, Hjulmand, Pote, Morita, Edwards, Gyökeres & Catamo

Porto

As expected, Porto claimed all three points at home to Casa Pia last weekend. Evanilson set the hosts on their way to victory with a 12th-minute goal, and early in the second half, Ze Pedro made it 2-0. Veteran defender Pepe made it 3-0 late on before Casa Pia managed to pull a goal back via a late penalty.

Samuel Portugal, Ivan Marcano and Gabriel Veron won't make the trip to Lisbon this week due to injury.

Predicted Lineup: Costa (GK), Pepe, Zé Pedro, Sánchez, Mendes, Eustáquio, Jaime, Varela, Taremi, Aquino & Evanilson

Player to Watch: Stephen Eustaquio

Porto's Canadian international Stephen Eustaquio is finally getting to enjoy regular first-team football with the Portuguese giants after playing a bit part role in the club's last two campaigns.

This season, Eustaquio has started 11 league games already and looks set to beat last campaign's tally of 19 starts. The Canadian-born midfielder has chipped in with two goals and two assists in the Primeira Liga this season, making him one of Porto's key players in the final third.

We're backing Eustaquio to put in another good performance just when his team needs it this Monday and help guide Porto to a positive result.
