Sparta Rotterdam vs Feyenoord prediction: Feyenoord to claim the win
Key Stats
- Feyenoord have won three of the four games they played this season in all competitions.
- Sparta Rotterdam have averaged 4.33 total goals per game in the league so far.
- Feyenoord have gone over 2.5 total goals in three of their four matches this season across the board.
Correct score prediction: Sparta Rotterdam 1-3 Feyenoord
While Sparta Rotterdam have started the season well, winning two of their three games in the league and their only loss coming against the reigning champions PSV, we can't see them avoiding a loss against their city rivals.
Feyenoord have also been in good form, excluding a tough loss to Fenerbahce in the Champions League qualifiers, plus they are a much better team on paper. All in all, we expect Feyenoord to secure all three points from this match.

Sparta Rotterdam preview: Hoping to finally win the city derby
As we said before, Sparta Rotterdam have failed to beat their city rivals for a long time, so they'll hope to finally turn the tide on Sunday. They certainly have reasons to feel optimistic since they've won two of the first three games in the new Eredivisie season and while they did suffer a heavy loss on the opening weekend, it was against the current dominant force in Dutch football, the reigning champions PSV.
However, Sparta will have to manage without injured Lance Duijvestijn, Shunsuke Mito, and Jonathan de Guzman against Feyenoord.
Predicted lineup: Drommel (GK), Sambo, Young, Indi, Van Aanholt, Clement, Kitolano, Van Bergen, Toornstra, Ltaief & Lauritsen

Feyenoord preview: Looking for third straight win in the league
Unlike their city rivals, Feyenoord have only played two matches so far in the Eredivisie and they won both of them, beating Excelsior and NAC Breda in the process. However, despite winning the first leg in the UCL qualifiers against Fenerbahce, a heavy 5-2 loss in the second leg means that Feyenoord will have to be satisfied with playing in the Europa League this season.
Meanwhile, Jakub Moder, Hwang In-beom, Thomas Beelen, Jordan Lotomba, and Gernot Trauner are all on Feyenoord's injury list at this moment.
Predicted lineup: Wellenreuther (GK), Bos, Ahmedhodzic, Watanabe, Lotomba, Targhalline, Timber, Moussa, Steijn, Sauer & Ueda

Player to watch: Sam Steijn
Last couple of seasons, Steijn burst onto the big scene with Twente and combined for 41 goals over those two season in the Eredivisie alone. So, when Feyenoord signed Steijn this summer, they did so with big expectations from the 23-year-old.

To his credit, Steijn hit the ground running and already scored twice in the Eredivisie this season in his first two games for the Rotterdam giants, so he'll be hoping to find the net in the city derby as well.
