Two of this season's slow starters in the Premier League go up against one another on Saturday as Southampton play host to Leeds. The Saints are yet to win a league game this season and are quickly becoming the masters of the draw, while Leeds finally secured their first win of the campaign against Watford at the seventh time of asking.

Football Whispers Predictics – Southampton vs Leeds

Here are our predictions for Southampton vs Leeds.

*Odds from Ladbrokes are subject to change

Draw

We're backing this game to end in a draw as Southampton have drawn four of their opening seven games this season, while Leeds have played out three draws. Southampton might be the slight favourites to win this weekend but Leeds haven't lost any of their last three games in league and cup against the Saints, in fact, they have won all three. Wins have been hard for each of these teams to come by this season with the pair producing just one in their 14 combined league games this season.

Under 2.5 Goals

This is a game that has the potential to be very low-scoring due to the form of the two teams and their current injury concerns. Under 2.5 goals have been scored in three of Southampton's and four of Leeds' last six outings in all competitions and with Ward-Prowse, Adams, Bamford and Phillips all potentially missing this weekend, a low-scoring 90-minutes is expected.

Draw at Half-Time

Both of these teams will be keen not to give anything away cheaply this weekend knowing that they have both found it impossible to come back and win games when conceding the first goal this season, so we're expecting a tight and tense opening 45-minutes with the teams going in level at the interval.

These two teams have started poorly but can one put in a winning performance this weekend?

Southampton slipped to an inevitable defeat away at Chelsea before the international break but the most damning result of the game was losing captain and set-piece expert James Ward-Prowse to a straight red card. Ward-Prowse converted a penalty in that game before being sent-off for a late challenge and will now miss the next three games for the Saints. Having their captain available for this weekend's match against Leeds probably would have given the hosts the advantage as without him they could struggle to create goals.

Leeds ending their winless start to the season at home to Watford where a solitary first-half effort from Llorente proved enough to secure a vital 3pts. Many had expected Leeds to push for a European place this season and while that could still be the case, there is a feeling that the club have been hit with a dose of second-season syndrome. A result at St Mary's will go a long way to getting Leeds' season back on track and if Bamford and Phillips can return from injury in time to play, then the visitors would surely become the new favourites with the bookmakers.

Team News

Southampton: Ward-Prowse is suspended and there are concerns over the fitnesses of Adams, Stephens, Smallbone and Broja this weekend.

Leeds: Koch, Ayling, Forshaw and Summerville are expected to miss out on Saturday through injury and there are some doubts over Bamford and Phillips.
