Football Whispers' Predictions for Southampton vs Everton

Southampton have picked up three positive results on the run in the Premier League against top-half sides and now they have the home advantage against an Everton side that sit six places and 7pts behind them. Frank Lampard's side were fantastic in their last game at home to Leeds, running out 3-0 winners, but question marks still surround their ability to perform away from Goodison Park.

BTTS

Both teams have scored in five of the last seven meetings between these two clubs in league and cup, and we're predicting more of the same on Saturday. Each of Southampton's and four of Everton's last six matches in all competitions have ended with both teams getting on the scoreboard, so you can see just why we're not back either side to keep a clean sheet this weekend.

Over 2.5 Goals

This game has the potential to be full of goalmouth action and we're backing at least three goals to be scored at St Mary's. Over 2.5 goals have been scored in four of Southampton's and five of Everton's last six outings in league and cup, with the pair keeping just one clean sheet between them in their last 12-matches combined.

Southampton looking to continue their unbeaten run

The Saints made the trip to Old Trafford last weekend where despite going a goal behind in the 21st-minute, the game ended all square. Adams finished neatly in the 48th-minute to get Southampton back onto level terms and the Saints had chances to win the game but a draw was probably a fair result in the end.

Southampton Predicted lineup – Forster, Bednarek, Perraud, Walker-Peters, Salisu, Romeu, Armstrong, Elyounoussi, Ward-Prowse, Adams & Broja

Frank Lampard took charge of his first home league game as Everton manager and needed his players to respond positively following a poor performance away at Newcastle. Everton controlled the game from the first minute to the last and despite Leeds hitting the woodwork twice through the same player, the Toffees deserved all 3pts. Coleman headed home after 10-minutes to get the crowd bouncing and Keane scored another header to make it 2-0 in the 23rd-minute. In the second half, the pace slowed down somewhat and Everton added a third goal via Gordon's heel after Richarlison's shot took a slight deflection before hitting the back of the net.

Everton Predicted lineup – Pickford, Coleman, Keane, Kenny, Holgate, Allan, van de Beek, Iwobi, Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison & Gordon

Team News

Southampton: Redmond, Elyounoussi, Tella, Bednarek, McCarthy and Lyanco are all injury concerns for the hosts.

Everton: Mina, Davies, Godfrey, Doucoure and Delph will miss the game for the Toffees, but Mykolenko and Gray could make their returns.
