  • Coventry's rejected bid was reported at €10m (£8.6m), close to 7% of the club's projected turnover this season.
  • Loftus-Cheek has one year left on the contract he signed at Milan in July 2023, running to 30 June 2027.
  • His current deal pays him €98,654 a week, more than three times Luke Woolfenden's £25,000 as Coventry's best-paid player.
Buying club need12 / 20
  • Coventry's midfield already runs eight deep, including Gustavo Hamer, Josh Eccles, Frank Onyeka and summer arrival Caleb Yirenkyi.
  • Loftus-Cheek scored three goals and created ten chances in 1,127 Serie A minutes for Milan last season.
  • He turned 30 in January and would arrive as one of the most experienced midfielders in Frank Lampard's rebuilt squad.
Player motivation5 / 15
  • New Milan head coach Ruben Amorim has used Loftus-Cheek as a right-sided attacking midfielder in his 3-4-2-1 this pre-season.
  • Tuttosport reports Milan and the player have already held initial talks over a new contract that could run to 2029 or 2030.
  • A move to Coventry would mean a significant pay cut from his current €98,654-a-week Milan salary.
Selling club incentive2 / 20
  • Amorim personally intervened to block the Coventry approach, telling Tuttosport he sees the 30-year-old as part of his plans for the season.
  • Loftus-Cheek was expected to leave Milan before Amorim's arrival and has instead started regularly in pre-season since.
  • Milan turned down Coventry's €10m offer within days of it landing, with no counter-proposal reported since.
Market momentum10 / 20
  • Every report of the rejected bid, from Goal to Yahoo to OneFootball, traces back to a single Tuttosport story.
  • Frank Lampard managed Loftus-Cheek for six years at Chelsea and pushed to reunite with him at Coventry.
  • Coventry have also been credited with interest in three other central midfielders, Tim Iroegbunam, Emam Ashour and Dan Neil, for the same role this summer.
The verdict35 / 100

Milan rejected a €10m Coventry City bid for Ruben Loftus-Cheek days after new head coach Ruben Amorim named him part of his plans for the season.

It happens if Milan's stance softens or the growth-decree renewal talks with Loftus-Cheek stall before the window shuts on 1 September.

It dies if those talks produce a new contract first, which Tuttosport says could run to 2029 or 2030.

Coventry have also been credited with interest in three other central midfielders this summer, and Milan have offered no counter-proposal since turning the bid down, capping this deal at unlikely despite the pillar scores totalling a higher tally.
