Rennes were held to a 2-2 draw by Paris Saint-Germain in their season opener, but they have quickly turned things around with back-to-back wins over Le Mans and Angers.

They are currently enjoying their best start to a Ligue 1 season for six years thanks to their three-match unbeaten streak.

Furthermore, Rennes’ unbeaten form on home turf extends to early March – they are undefeated in six straight league outings at Roazhon Park.

Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal is Franck Haise’s only absentee, while Marseille are missing the services of Geoffrey Kongdobia and Tochukwu Nnadi.

Two losses in three games have consigned Marseille to 10th place after three rounds. Their only victory – a 4-0 win over Strasbourg on matchday one – saves them some face.

Monaco and Paris FC have condemned Bruno Genesio to successive defeats, and their worries only escalate away from home.

Four losses across their last five trips, including Monaco's recent 2-0 victory at Stade Louis II, makes this a worrisome trip to Brittany.

Whispers predicts: Rennes 2-1 Marseille

Rennes to win at 6/5 (2.20) offers considerable value, with the hosts’ unbeaten start to the season making them the outright favourites at such an impressive rate.

Esteban Lepaul failed to score in Rennes’ 2-1 win over Angers last matchday, but already has three goals to show for after his pivotal strikes against Le Mans and PSG. Expect last season’s Ligue 1 top scorer to rise to the occasion as an anytime goalscorer at 11/10 (2.10). He also struck against Marseille in last season’s visit to the Velodrome.

Marseille are expected to start strong after a series of unconvincing performances. Backing a First-half draw at 6/4 (2.50) carries immense returns. However, Rennes have what it takes to replicate last season’s narrow H2H win here over the visitors – Draw/Rennes at 9/2 (5.50) is a bet worth keeping tabs on.

Over 2.5 total goals at 7/12 (1.58) offers minimal but worthwhile returns, with each of Rennes’ last 10 games crossing the mark.
