Real Sociedad played out a 1-1 draw with Girona on Thursday, extending their winless streak to five games. The hosts are eighth in La Liga, six points above the relegation zone with two matches remaining.
It is worth mentioning that Pellegrino Matarazzo's men earned a UEFA Europa League berth due to their Copa del Rey triumph last month. They have been a tough team to beat at home, losing only once in their last 12 matches at this stadium across all competitions.
Full-back Alvaro Odriozola suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee during a match against Real Oviedo in February and has been sidelined for the rest of the season, but Gonzalo Guedes, who was unavailable against Girona due to fitness concerns, will return to the squad for this match.
Orri Oskarsson, who was suspended against Girona in midweek, should be available for selection. Meanwhile, the milestone booking for Ander Barrenetxea in that clash means the 24-year-old is suspended for Real Sociedad’s last home game of the season.
On the other hand, Valencia kept their European hopes alive with a 1-1 draw with Rayo Vallecano in their last outing.
While Los Che are only two points behind eighth-placed Real Sociedad, they are only four points above the relegation zone with two matches remaining.
The Mestalla outfit will be without defender Jose Copete, who is sidelined for the remainder of the campaign with a meniscus injury, while captain Jose Luis Gaya and Renzo Saravia are major doubts this weekend following their recent injuries against Rayo.
However, Dimitri Foulquier and Thierry Correia are both available after recovering from knee and hamstring injuries, respectively. Their comeback is expected to be a boost to the visitors in their quest to return to Europe.
