Rayo Vallecano were held to a 1-1 draw by Getafe on Monday night. Despite having the lead and a one-man advantage, they were unable to hold on for their first away win of the season.

While the Madrid-based outfit are still hunting for their first victory on the road, they have conversely been formidable at Estadio de Vallecas, having won their last two home games, with no defeats at this stadium this term.

Benat San Jose's troops are 14th in La Liga with a 2-3-3 win-draw-loss record. They have had one of the league's worst defences, having not managed a clean sheet all season, with 17 goals conceded in eight matches.

Rayo will be missing a sizable number of players, including the injured Randy Nteka (back), Augusto Batalla (broken leg), Andrei Ratiu (muscular), and Luiz Felipe (ACL), as well as the suspended Pathe Ciss (accumulated yellows).

On the other hand, Elche are coming off a goalless draw against neighbours Villarreal. They have now drawn back-to-back games by the same scoreline and are unbeaten in their last three matches.

Interestingly, the Valencia-based side have managed only one win in nine La Liga outings this season and are in the relegation zone in 18th place. Their fortunes have improved somewhat, as they were winless in their first six league outings but have been unbeaten in three games since.

Marc Aguado sprained his ankle in last weekend's draw at Villarreal and is the only absentee for the visiting team.

Head coach Martin Anselmi is not expected to make wholesale changes to the side that held Villarreal, but Fernando Nino, who has scored five of the team's 11 goals this season, should be back in the starting XI this weekend at the expense of Abiel Osorio.

who got the nod against the Yellow Submarine last time out. Nino has been impressive for the side so far, having scored five of the team's 11 league goals.

Recent clashes between these sides have not been one-sided, as both teams have four wins apiece in the last eight H2Hs. However, Elche have lost four consecutive trips to the Vallecas Stadium.

Whispers Predicts: Rayo Vallecano 2-1 Elche

Priced at 17/20 (1.85), Rayo Vallecano are considered favourites by the bookmakers ahead of this skirmish.

The Madrid outfit have won back-to-back home games, and considering their winning streak against Elche at this stadium, we are confident that the hosts will claim all the spoils here.

Four of Rayo Vallecano's last five matches, five of Elche's last six games, and four of the last five H2Hs have gone above the 4.5-goal threshold, and this can be backed at 10/11 (1.91).

We also fancy over 10.5 total corners at 21/20 (2.05), as was the case in five of the hosts' last seven fixtures.
