Racing Santander's struggles continued last weekend as they lost 2-0 at Osasuna, extending their winless run to four games.
Interestingly, while Jose Alberto Lopez's troops have lost all their away games this season, they have conversely been impressive at home, having not lost at this stadium so far (W2, D2).
Racing Club are just above the relegation zone in 17th place, having earned eight points from their first nine La Liga outings. They have had the league's worst defence, having conceded 25 times, at least seven more than any other team at the time of writing.
There are no active injuries or suspensions for the Cantabrian side, so head coach Lopez is expected to field his strongest possible XI, with Yassir Zabiri (seven league goals) expected to headline the attack alongside Sergio Canales and Inigo Vicente.
On the other hand, Espanyol were beaten 1-0 at home by Atletico Madrid last weekend.
Like their opponents, the Catalan side are now on a four-game winless run. They have an identical 2-2-5 win-draw-loss record to their hosts and are just above them in 16th place.
Roberto Fernandez has experienced a dip in form, having gone without a goal in his last three appearances after scoring seven in the first six games of the season. The 24-year-old is expected to lead the charge as head coach Manolo Gonzalez, who has no injured or suspended players, tries to steer his team back to winning ways.
This will be the first clash between these teams since February 2024 and their first in La Liga since March 2012. Espanyol have been the dominant side in their most recent H2Hs, having won three of the last four.

Whispers Predicts: Racing Santander 2-2 Espanyol
Priced at 29/20 (2.45), Racing Santander are considered favourites by the bookmakers ahead of this clash.
While Racing Club have no losses at home this season, they have had a poor track record against Espanyol, who avoided defeat in two of their last three away matches. On that note, we believe that both teams' respective winless streaks will continue with a stalemate.
Racing Santander's last six games and Espanyol's last eight matches have all gone north of the 4.5-card marker, and this can be backed at 9/10 (1.90).
We also fancy a 2-2 correct score at 11/1 (12.00), as was the case in two of the hosts' last four home games.
> Over 3.5 total goals at 6/4 (2.50) | Likelihood: Possible
> BTTS – Yes at 11/20 (1.55) | Likelihood: Probable
> Match result: Draw at 11/4 (3.75) | Likelihood: Possible
> Over 4.5 total cards at 9/10 (1.90) | Likelihood: Probable
> Correct Score: 2-2 at 11/1 (12.00) | Likelihood: Outsider
