Rangers to win

Rangers have won their last nine matches at Ibrox.

Rangers will take on Hearts in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday, 15 February, in a monster clash at the top of the league table.

Hearts have led the way for much of the season, and a win on Sunday would see them open up an eight-point gap between themselves and Rangers with just 11 games to play.

A win for the hosts, however, would not only put Gers within touching distance of the summit but also give Celtic the chance to go level with Hearts by winning their match with Kilmarnock on Sunday and their upcoming game in hand.

As part of this week's round of Scottish Premiership betting tips, check out our Rangers vs Hearts prediction below.

Rangers vs Hearts prediction: Situation to become too much for visitors

  • Rangers have won 10 of their last 13 matches in all competitions.
  • Hearts have failed to win more than 50% of their last nine away matches in all competitions.
  • Both teams have scored in two of Rangers' last three Scottish Premiership matches.

Correct score prediction: Rangers 2-1 Hearts

Although this current Rangers group aren't seasoned winners like Ibrox teams of yesteryear, they do have more experience when it comes to top of the table clashes at this stage of the season than their opponents. While this can't be quantified, it absolutely plays a huge part in settling matches like these.

Pre-game odds and win probability: The hosts start as slight favourites

  • HOME: 19/20 (1.95) – 51.3%
  • DRAW: 5/2 (3.50) – 28.6%
  • AWAY: 14/5 (3.80) – 26.3%

*odds from Ladbrokes, subject to change

The Rangers vs Hearts odds indicate that the visitors have it all to do if they are to go back to Edinburgh with all three points on Sunday. Ladbrokes have given Rangers a 51.3% chance of winning the match, while Hearts have been given a 26.3% chance of victory.

Most recent H2Hs: Nothing to split them

Across the last six meetings between Rangers and Hearts, both teams have enjoyed two wins apiece, and the remaining two matches finished all square. What perhaps gives Hearts the edge is that they have won their two previous clashes with Rangers this season.

Rangers preview: No new problems

Danny Rohl has no fresh injury or suspension issues ahead of this one, but it would be a shock if he stuck with the same XI that were lacklustre against Motherwell in the week. Bailey Rice, Connor Barron, Max Aarons and Derek Cornelius all missed that match, and none of them are expected to return here.

Predicted lineup: Butland (GK), Tavernier, Souttar, Djiga, Meghoma, Chukwuani, Raskin, Gassama, Diomande, Moore, Miovski

Last five results

  • Motherwell 1-1 Rangers
  • Rangers 8-0 Queen's Park
  • Rangers 5-1 Kilmarnock
  • Hibernian 0-0 Rangers
  • FC Porto 3-1 Rangers

Hearts preview: Derby day hero to start?

Tomas Magnusson scored an 88th-minute winner against Hibernian last time out, and if that isn't enough to earn him a start this weekend, then nothing will. Lawrence Shankland remains out with a hamstring injury, while Calem Nieuwenhof, Cameron Devlin, Stephen Kingsley and Finlay Pollock are also in the treatment room.

Predicted lineup: Schwolow (GK), McEntee, Kent, Findlay, Milne, Magnusson, Leonard, Chesnokov, Braga, Kyziridis, Kabore

Last five results

  • Hearts 1-0 Hibernian
  • St. Mirren 1-0 Hearts
  • Dundee Utd 0-3 Hearts
  • Hearts 2-2 Celtic
  • Hearts 1-1 Falkirk(p)

Player to watch: Bojan Miovski

Rangers fans would have been hoping for more when the club signed Bojan Miosvski last summer, but so far, the former Girona man has only managed to find the back of the net four times in the Scottish Premiership. Miovski is expected to be given another chance from the start on Sunday, and a goal in a game of this magnitude could kickstart his Rangers career.
