Dundee Utd +2

Rangers haven't won a league match by more than two goals this season.

Rangers will begin their post-Russell Martin era on Saturday, 18 October, when they take on Dundee Utd at Ibrox.

The match will be Steven Smith's first match as interim manager, and he has said that he wants his players to put a smile back on the faces of Rangers fans after a torrid start to the campaign.

Dundee Utd will not be an easy assignment, though. United are currently fourth in the Scottish Premiership table and have picked up more points than Gers so far this season.

As part of this week's round of Scottish Premiership betting tips, check out our Rangers vs Dundee Utd prediction below.

Rangers vs Dundee Utd prediction: Gers to stumble over the line

Key Stats

  • Rangers have only won two of their last ten matches in all competitions.
  • In 12 competitive outings this season, Dundee Utd have only lost one by a margin of two goals or more.
  • Both teams have scored in each of Rangers' last three matches.

Correct score prediction: Rangers 2-1 Dundee Utd

The new manager bounce should see Rangers through on Saturday, while the release of all toxicity inside Ibrox should also help the players. However, they won't suddenly become winning machines, and Dundee Utd can be a handful.

Player to watch: Djeidi Gassama

Djeidi Gassama started his Rangers career brightly but his form has since fallen off a cliff and has faced the wrath of the Rangers support at times. The 22-year-old possessed bags of talent and will be hoping that life without Martin will be a fresh start and a new opportunity for him to shine.
